Rehomed a 5 month old kitten today,I've only ever had boys all my adult life and only ever black and white.
She's grey and white and super skittish, just hope the slow introductions go well over the coming weeks with our 5 year old grumpy boy.

Congratulations! She has landed on her paws now ♥️

Oooh, she's gorgeous and her brother is such a handsome chap. Since I got my second cat, I've always had a boy and a girl - the best of both worlds. Generally, my boys have been more laid back than the girls and the boys tend to prefer me to my husband, whereas the girls like us both.

Beautiful cats. I hope they become the best of friends.

He's neutered but still not tolerant at all of local Tom's so thought a female would be the best bet, also hoping she'll be a cuddler and want to play with my daughters as he's just not interested lol but even though he is a grumpy old fart before his time I adore him.

It's generally thought to be easier to introduce a cat of the opposite sex to a resident cat. I've never had two of the same sex, though, so I can only go by my own experience - it generally takes about 6 weeks before you can confidently give them both the run of the house and go out in the knowledge they won't fight beyond a minor spat.

Thank you @Arbadacarba,that's good to know.

They are both gorgeous!

Beautiful. Has not yet perfected first ballet position with front paws which female cats usually do (male cats usually third or fourth ballet position).

AnnaMagnani · 26/06/2021 16:26

I was told males are more territorial outside and females more territorial inside.

Has definitely been my experience introducing a male to a resident female - he didn't give a toss as long as he got his dinner. She was going nuts.

It's calmed down now but she still feels the need to bat him one on a daily basis, despite being half the size of him. I reckon your kitten will be the boss in no time.
