Cats wont touch Felix anymore. Whats the alternative?

Im so fed up. They only have half a pouch as they get Puritzon dry which is over 70% meat so I dont feel bad they enjoy their bit of AGAIL buts whats happened? Ive bought all the different combinations and the new style boxes and old they just acknowledge it and i feel bad. They come running up for it and i can feel their disappointment (😃). Ive tried other wet but they arent interested im beginning to wonder just to give them a small tin of tuna I just want them to get some liquid in them.

Has the recipe changed?

How odd, my cat is the same! Totally gone off Felix.

She's a lovely old thing (17) so we do spoil her a bit and offer a lot of variety of wet food - different brands, some home cooked fish/poultry, etc.

The one thing I'd say about tinned tuna is, it's ok occasionally but do add a bit of water, and have lots of water available. I believe it's not great for their kidneys.

EachandEveryone · 01/06/2021 14:19

Ill try the encore one.

Beamur · 01/06/2021 14:39

Mine are turning their noses up at encore. Will usually eat Sheba but hoovering up some cheap nasty supermarket own at the moment. They're on a good quality dry food too so I'm not too bothered.

AlfonsoTheMango · 01/06/2021 14:56

Mine went off Felix, so I bought him Sheba and Whiskas.

Then he went to live with the neighbours.

cupsofcoffee · 02/06/2021 07:11

Have you tried the Felix sensations pouches instead?

EachandEveryone · 02/06/2021 12:32

No I haven’t don’t they have jelly sweets in them?😃

OP posts:
Gatekeeper · 02/06/2021 12:37

See If you can get the sensation ones with the pouch of sprinkley bits in. My two would ignore the felix but then happily scoff it with a couple of bits on the top! I wish they would sell it separately

Branleuse · 02/06/2021 12:39

my cats are really bloody fussy too. Cant be whiskas., Has to be felix, but the pouches and not the tins, and it cant really be the fish ones except sometimes.
Honestly theyre bastards. Im fed up with it. They just screech for something else, and act like theres nothing in their bowl. Then the dog eats it which makes her fart all evening,

EachandEveryone · 02/06/2021 12:54

I don’t understand how they know so much even my ferals are walking away from Felix

barberousbarbara · 02/06/2021 13:00

I have to have a variety of different brands for my cat. She won't eat supermarket brands so I tend to buy a mixture of brands from Zooplus. She won't eat the same brand or flavour two days in a row Hmm

Branleuse · 02/06/2021 13:06

WHY ARE THEY LIKE THIS?

cupsofcoffee · 02/06/2021 13:06

I think so! Definitely try them - my three wolf them down Grin
Branleuse · 02/06/2021 13:06

HOW CAN THEY TELL THAT ITS FROM A TIN NOT A POUCH

SpindleWhorl · 02/06/2021 13:10

Maybe it's like that ultra-processed food thing, where the manufacturer puts all sorts of crack-like additives in the really expensive ones.

Cats are magic.

It's not for us to question their ways 🤣

SpindleWhorl · 02/06/2021 14:36

My cat can tell what's going on in the space-time continuum in her sleep. She actually IS shroedinger's cat, but a subverted, telepathic version.

If we herded all the cats into CERN, Brian Cox would end up eating Felix and licking his own bottom.

MrsPnut · 02/06/2021 14:38

Our old lady will eat Gourmet gold in the little tins and Waitrose own in the foil trays but the latter are as rare as hens teeth.

I spend as much on the pets food as I do on ours.

TokyoSushi · 02/06/2021 14:38

Our cat is unbelievably fussy, he's currently wolfing down Purina 'selective palate' although I suspect he will have gone off that by the weekend and we'll be on to something else!

Bargebill19 · 02/06/2021 15:28

Is it the warm weather? Try a pouch straight from the fridge?

EachandEveryone · 02/06/2021 16:27

Oh I might have had a breakthrough. I bought the Aldi Vitacat Select there were only three boxes on the shelf and I only stupidly picked up one. Big Mistake. Of course they loved it and its a good thirty minute walk away in this heat there and back. I better get my trolley out .......

OP posts:
crimsonlake · 02/06/2021 17:40

Tbh I would not rush back to buy a trolley full of Vitacat as no doubt after eating a couple of sachets your cat will turn his nose up.
As for Felix sachets, I am having this issue of sudden disdain also and I am certainly not allowed to buy fish anything!
I have no idea what the answer is, but it is a pain having to cater to their whims. When I was growing up cats ate what you gave them, possibly there is too much choice these days.
They say a cat will eat rather than starve, mine would prefer to starve so I have to give in.

OodleLoodle · 03/06/2021 23:36

Stuck on royal canin here!! :( have tried the majority of zooplus and petsathome lines and it's all refused!

On the brightside, the local Blue Cross are very happy to take the rejects!

QueenPaw · 03/06/2021 23:37

Not my cat first used to only eat dry. Then he would only eat wet. Now he will only eat the most expensive raw food, chicken, or dreamies Hmm

EachandEveryone · 04/06/2021 06:53

Well one of mine wpuld rather have a packet of Dreamies than food as well. The other one seems to like the Vitakat it says its 40percent as well.
