Trying to teach Mr FattyCat to use the catflap

Any tips?

He's comfortable with new humans, comes to visitors for cuddles, but change anything in his environment and his little mind explodes.

Move his feeding station to the other side of the room 🙀

Open the side door to go into the garden (we'd only been using the back door until then) 🙀
Sit in the green sofa, when you usually sit in the blue sofa🙀
Shut a door that's always been open🙀
Open a door that's always been shut🙀

What a gorgeous chilled-out kitty! He obviously LOVES you!

Oh, he's gorgeous. And I am laughing at the image of pushing an octopus into a sock.

My gorgeous cat is officially an idiot.

He used the catflap this morning, out and in, with minimal encouragement and no Dreamies bribery. So we thought he'd got the idea.

We've been out all day. It's the first time since he came that he's been alone at home for the whole day. The catflap was unlocked, with a few bits in the tunnel to encourage him. He usually gets a spoonful of dry food midmorning and another mid afternoon, so I left a second bowl of food in another room. And of course his litter tray was available.

So we got home in the evening. He hadn't been out (the food was still in the tunnel), he hadn't eaten the dry food I left him, and he hadn't used the litter tray.

Little beast was ravenous, and practically leapt on the wet food as I was putting it out for him, but dashed out for a wee after a couple of mouthfuls when he heard me open the door. Came back through the catflap, gobbled both the dry and the wet food, and demanded cuddles.

Nutter. I thought cats were supposed to be able to look after themselves!
