Oh my day! I’m over the moon. Dh has tonight agreed we can get two cats (admittedly one each for dds). But, I’m the mad cat lady! So I will take the lead. I am beyond excited 😁
We will adopt rescues. Don’t care what colour or breed as (I’m a mad cat lady!) dds will love any cat. Hurrah! 🎉

Hurrah! We now have three rescue cats - it’s an addiction Grin

It is a slippery slope -we have 3 rescue cats as well. Happy cat adopting!

Aquamarine1029 · 23/05/2021 00:11

Make as sure, as much as you possibly can, that the cats will tolerate each other. It can be an absolute disaster if they don't. Personally, I would get sibling kittens or adult cats that came from the same home. As a lifelong cat owner who currently has 5 cats, I've had a lot of experience.

Foxhasbigsocks · 23/05/2021 00:13

The rescue should give good advice on compatibility - we took mum cat and a kitten initially squeeeee

We’re looking at getting siblings or a pair already together. No specific breed or colour. We live on a private road, behind us is a private road. Where we live it’s quiet with gardens. We have the time and energy needed. I have the cat experience from very small kitten onwards. Dds loves cats and they’ve been ‘trained’ how to behave around them.
Not sure we’d end up with 3. I think I pushed dh, enough with two Blush

Do the kids know? He can’t backtrack if he’s got three of you looking up doing sad eyes, lower lips wobbling.

Longdistance · 23/05/2021 17:01

I haven’t told dds yet as we’ll get pestered to death. I have mentioned before about getting cats for dds in the future which they were excited about. I get sent tik tok clips of cats and watch them with dds. Their friend has about five cats and they go around to play with them.
The decision was made and he’s not the boss Wink it had been discussed before, but we were going to move house, but it’s off the market as that’d in the back burner now.

Can I give you my Number 1 Tip?

Don't get 2 exactly the same colour Grin
We have 2 jet black (M/F siblings) and have to double check "Is that him or her ? " when they walk by .

2 bonded / siblings/ parent+ offspring are lovely

Happy Cat Searching .

RaisinFlapjack · 23/05/2021 21:19

Aww fab! We recently got one after I spent months and months wearing down my DH, I was over the moon!

ilovesooty · 24/05/2021 00:30

I'd only ever had single cats but now have two brothers who had just turned 2 when I got them from rescue . They are awesome - I hope you're as happy as I am.

LadyGAgain · 24/05/2021 00:33

Hurrah indeed!! It's takes us 5 months of searching to get our moggie and we had to agree to only having one. That said...
