Would you leave a new cat alone for a weekend?

I’ve got the option of picking up a new cat this weekend...the only problem is we’re away for 2 nights next weekend (from Fri late afternoon > Sun early afternoon). We can have neighbours come in and feed each day + keep the cat company for a couple of hours on the Saturday.

I really didn’t want to get a cat until after our weekend away (as normally we’re only usually out of the house for a few hours at a time at most), but I know the cat is not very happy in its current environment, and for various other reasons picking up this weekend is more convenient. The cat is quite chilled/adaptable by all accounts.

I just don’t know if it’s too unsettling for the cat to be left mostly alone for nearly 48 hours so soon after rehoming.

A big NO from me. Of course it’s too unsettling. The charity ours came from would not have let us take them in those circumstances, with good reason.

I wouldn't. If you have to get the cat now can you reschedule the weekend away?

We had to get our kittens before the owner went into hospital, and it meant my husband and daughter stayed home with them while my boys and I went away. We actually thought there being less people in the house would benefit the cats settling....we weren't just being mean. Lol!

You’re right...I think I was just carried away at the prospect of being able to take the cat home this weekend.

Nooo that's unfair

Hope you can collect cat after weekend away!
