How to stop kitten and dog eating each others food

I'm sure there's probably a very simple answer to this but between us we can't figure it out Confused

Recently got a kitten, our dog keeps eating her food. I've also spotted our kitten eating the dogs food.
I let Dog graze throughout the day, have tried set meal times at different times but have found access to food most of the day works best, so I can't constantly monitor the bowls. Have done the same with Kitten as she's young but as she gets older will probably do 2 set meals.
We feed them in separate areas of the house however Our house is completely open plan so no way to block access properly unless they're fed upstairs which I don't really want to do if can be helped. Have tried putting bowls high up as kitten can climb up but our dog can reach most high surfaces (although she's not allowed to, if she knows she can get away with it/won't be seen she still will).

Any suggestions?

Look up sure feed bowls, they automatically open when an animal with the correct microchip or collar tag approaches and then shut again afterwards.

Expensive, but completely solve the problem (mine was a greedy cat stealing specialist diet and food with medication in it from our older cat who preferred grazing and would often come back to find his meal had been eaten by the greedy one) 🙂

Yep agree - microchip feeders are rhe way to go, I had to get them for my two cats - one greedy bugger and one skinny grazer.

Brilliant and also stop flies in the summer

Thanks guys. I didn't realise those were a thing, heard of microchip pet doors but not bowls. Just had a look-I think I'll have to get a couple of those, shame I've literally just bought lovely personalised food stations for each of them, those will have to just be for display Grin
