Cats want to be out allllll the time

Two brothers, 11 months old.

They LOVE being outside, and I kind of don’t blame them as where we live must he like one giant fun park for them - loads of trees to climb, bushes to rummage in, small fields, other gardens etc.

They nip back throughout the day to eat, and generally come home quite quickly when we call them.

We can’t have a cat flap here, so we keep them in overnight.

In the morning they cry and cry and cry to be let out again. And when they pop back for lunch they cry and cry and cry for us to open the door again. They seem to understand that they should stay in at night, but now it’s lighter in the evenings they get a bit confused when they can’t go back out (9pm ish).

Is it normal that they are SO keen to stay out? They don’t seem too bothered about us these days (they used to play and cuddle a lot) and now come in and just zonk out.

I should caveat with the fact it’s probably only been 2 months that we’ve been letting them out for. We live abroad and weather has been very cold and snowy this winter so it’s only been since late feb that it’s seemed mild enough for them to go out.

Anyway perhaps they are just super exited to get out and the novelty hasn’t worn off yet.

We have two cats and one of them is like this (minus the crying as we have a cat flap). The other is more of a home body.

One of mine is the same, just desperate to be out at any opportunity. She just loves the sunshine and is a totally different cat in the summer, she doesn't go far but is obsessed with being out. It usually gets to a point mid summer where its impossible to get her in at night, shes 5 now so am used to her feral ways and just go with it as it makes her very happy.

I have a bedroom window open unless it is really cold, As the weather improves if I'm working I might not see Madam for 3-4 days because she comes in at ight to eat and goes out as soon as it is light.
