Cat licking wooden furniture

So we've just got a new wooden table and new wooden coasters and my kitten whose 9 months old has started licking them!! I've googled it and it said it could be Pica- it's weird though because he dosent do it on any other furniture! Does anyone have any ideas why he could be doing this? He's obsessed never seen him like it before!

Our cat licks our bed in the morning if we aren't getting up quick enough to suit him. It makes a really annoying scrapey noise and we get pissed off with it and get up to feed him to make him stop. He is obviously more clever than us.

Our cat reacts to new wood chips in the garden like cat nip, but once a few days old he ignores it. I noticed it smells like eucalyptus, which I suppose is a bit like catnip (part of the mint family?). Maybe it’s just the smell of the new wood?
