I have 2 ragdolls and cat proofed the garden. I am struggling to find solution for their toilet. Naturally the refuse to use the one indoor, digging the grass is so much better! And unfortunately not easy to clean up due to the soft pop.

Triedto put and XL covered toilet in the garden. Nope! Not a chance. Grass is still much better...

I understand if it is a tray, it needs to be covered from the rain? Plus with summer and heat approaching I think of smell and flies?

Please tell what works for you and ideally show me the pic!

Thank you so much!

I can't help as Ernie chose his own toilet under the bamboo

Col had chosen his under a different bamboo

I make sure the area is always turned over so it's easy for them to dig

Sadly no bamboos or any trees for the purpose, accept for the tree house for them to climb over in the middle.

Are you using wood chip litter?.

My cat has a decent-sized raised bed of earth that she uses as her outdoor litter tray. As long as we clean it out regularly, it doesn’t seem to get too smelly even when the weather is hot. We top it up with fresh soil every now and then. I won’t pretend it’s attractive, but it’s effective.

She also has an indoor litter tray, which she uses if she doesn’t want, or isn’t allowed, to go out.

My Dad constructed this for our three cats to use for us. We used a rabbit hutch as the basis for the design and then have bought two big roasting trays which were £7 each and filled with wood pellets. We pick out the car poo every day and then so a full clear out of them every few days.we just had to put a step type thing at the front to help them get in which amused my Dad!

I do like the construction!

I am using World’s best corn fine granule quick clamping cat litter, they were ok with that while kittens. But once the garden got opened for them the story changed...

Our cat uses a section of bark then clear it out after him. He chose that, he also has an indoor litter tray.

You don't need a special tray. Just make sure a square of your garden has nothing but soft, loose earth, and they'll use that. You can always scoop out the poo from time to time if you feel so inclined.
