What happened to proper cat names like Felix, Sid, Oscar, Colin, Bob, Sheba, Lucy, and Fluffy?
Anyone (apart from me) think most of the names in the survey are rubbish? Or am I just showing my age?

I thought a Tuppence was a euphemism for a vagine.

Well, my first rescue was a boy with enormous balls before he was castrated, so definitely not a vagina reference in his case

Our Willow is very upset that you don't like her name, & she's going to use her best 90s witchy powers on you, or get her brothers, Spike & Giles, onto you.

I have a kitten with a name on thst list but it was the name the rescue had given him!

The fact that your Willow has brothers called Spike and Giles means that all is forgiven in your case.

As for Tuppence (an excellent cat name) being used as a euphemism - I think you're all very rude .

Tuppence was used a euphemism years ago here too.

Mine has one of those and has had it for over 10 years.
I think it's lovely. And it suits him.

Any of your proper names would have been rubbish on him.
And quite boring if all cats were named Felix, surely.

There's a great selection of properly named cats except Loki at Battersea at present including a Winston, presumably named after the Bash Street School janitor's cat?.

My new kitten is to be called Mouse so I haven't a leg to stand on, really!

My brother and I named our first cat when we were about 2-3 years old - he was a big, ferocious,rough farm cat that could take out a buffalo should he chose to - he was called Custard 😁

My kitten which I got in July is called Falkor after the luck dragon from neverending story. He's a Norwegian forest

We currently have Biscuit (because he's ginger) and Riker (because Star Trek), but previously had Cosmic Creepers and Chairman Miaow. My childhood cat was called Napoleon 😁

I have a ginger that’s what happens when you let a 5 year old name a ginger cat!
However we call him GingerPaws and sing ‘GingerPaws GingerPaws all your teeth and all your claws’ to the tune of Spider-Man so it’s all good

My cat is Nala, that's because that was the name Cats Protection gave her. My last cat was called Simon 😁

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats Willow is a ginger girl, hence the name, but is more commonly referred to by her full name, 'Fucks sake Willow' (goes well with 'Get down Giles')

Willow was a blue Peter cat in the eighties...

I know several cats called Leo long before lockdown, its a very "cat" name

We got our stray just before lockdown, she is called Cwtch, our rescue is 11 and was named by the CPl and called Rosie

My cats have first, middle and surnames. Their surnames are unique and not the same as mine.

After enduring the heart wrenching pain of a girl cat who only has eyes for my OH, my next cat will be a big soppy boy cat called Derek.
