Don’t know what to do...15 year old mog

We have two cats who I rescued from CP back in 2006, approximately 15 & 16 years old now. The younger one has recently been diagnosed the hyperthyroidism & howls constantly during the night. I took her to the vets and they prescribed thyronorm to begin with which did improve things slightly but then she started suffering with puritus which made things worse again. She’s a very nervous, sweet cat but would not tolerate other treatments & I really don’t know what to do. She wakes us all every night & her quality of life isn’t fantastic I’m sure, she’s always so nervous & is a very fussy eater. We have discussed PTS as an option but I really don’t know what to do for the best. Has anyone experienced anything similar please?

I should add that we have to feed her separately as our other old girl is very greedy & we also have a Labrador who hoovers up anything in his path - we do leave biscuits down overnight for the girls but they’ve always been demolished by the morning. The lack of sleep is becoming a nightmare

Ask yourself- is she enjoying life? How many of the things she enjoys doing can she still do?
I'm sorry, it's a rotten decision to have to make, but one that has to be done.

I'm sorry to hear this. I think you know what the kind thing to do here is. Please be brave and arrange things tomorrow. You sounds like a loving owner, you have done everything you can and she's been lucky to have a home with you Flowers

I don't have advice but wanted to send best wishes. Ive been there recently with that decision it is soo hard.

I think if you are questioning it and asking here it's probably time. I did the same (changed name). I needed validation from others as the vets won't help much with that
All the best
