8 month old kitten with very bad breath

Hi
I've got an 8 month old kitten with very bad breath.
He seems to have had it since we got him at 8 weeks (or that's what I feel)
He's in good health generally and the vets have said nothing to worry about, probably teeth (he does bite a lot - an aufal lot) but it doesn't seem to stop which I would have thought it would do??
Anyone with kitten bad breath and should be worried - my last cat had it and was told it's a sign of kidney problems but he was 15 years old
Can anyone shed any light?
Thanks

You say you have had your kitten checked by the vet and the vet says nothing to worry about, so that's the main thing.

If he had kidney problems, there would be other symptoms as I'm sure you know from your last cat - they lose a lot of weight and look generally in poor condition.

Has he got his adult teeth yet? You could try cleaning his teeth if so - I have never been able to get a cat to accept this, but all mine have been adult rescues so you might have more luck with a kitten.

You could try changing his food, but do this gradually, mixing a small bit of the new food with the old and gradually increasing the proportion.

Otherwise all I can suggest is going back to the vet.

Cats aren’t generally renowned for their fragrant mouths. Out cat’s mouth generally smells fairly toxic, and to be honest you would kind of expect this given their high meat diet.

Unless you have noticed a change in the smell of the cat’s mouth then I wouldn’t worry too much especially if the vet has already checked the cat out.

My 8 month old kitten has smelly breath fishy but I just assumed it's normal he eats wet food.
He's also healthy and been checked over by vets so I'm not worried as pp said cats aren't known for minty fresh breath.

My cats breath got pretty bad when he wad teething and it then seemed to clear up.
