I posted this in chat, but think it should be here as well. Word needs to get out.

There are so many rescues who will trap, neuter and return. There is no need for this cruelty.

I would honestly take what this click bait website says with a pinch of salt. It used to be my local newspaper, now they will publish any old crap to get clicks and things that have often been proven to be untrue.

It’s in many newspapers - this one wasn’t behind a paywall, which Is why I linked to it.

@Moondust001

I do not agree with the snares, nor with grouse shooting - and as "a country person", no I bloody don't like shooting things or riding to hounds. But what exactly would be the point of neutering and releasing feral predators back into the environment when the purpose of this is to protect, not grouse, but endangered bird species? Will you be suggesting that they also have their teeth pulled so they can't kill these rare species, or are you townies going to run classes on how to be a vegetarian feral cat?

Finding a better way, yes that's definitely something that we can all subscribe to. But the greatest threat to the environments of rare species in this country, as elsewhere, is not country people, but the rapacious demand for building land by urban dwellers.

A population that can’t breed will die out. Yes damage will be done in the meant, but that goes for all predators.

*meantime

(But, of course, it’s only ok when humans are shooting for fun or snaring to prevent animals killing the animals that the humans are going to kill...)

....And otters, there are otters in the area too. It’s not just cats and foxes potentially. ☹️

This is appalling Angry

What in the actual fuck??? Why? We’re in the countryside, we’d never ever do anything like this or seen anyone do this. Absolute cruelty, that’s sick

I saw the photos on Twitter.

And the person who discovered the traps and the bodies contacted the landowner first to discuss, they were ignored. So they went to the press.
