Boy cat 6 months old is now neutered but Is still eating his way through a large bag of dry kitten food applaws

Should be be on adult food now he is on neutered or kitten food until they are 1?

I think it’s ‘up to the kitten’. Mine are still eating kitten dried food at 10 months and so are the oap cats at 13years. Simply because they all prefer the kitten versions. Wet food is all adult and was from about 3 months. It’s not harmed or held them back.

We used kitten food till he was one. We stopped when his very loud “bowl empty” miaow went away.

I asked my vet about this as previous cat got a bit overweight as he was on kitten food till one. I didnt know the brand he was on had a 'neutured cat' food.

Anyway vet said to leave him, just to keep an eye on the amount he had and his weight. I must admit we do just feed him freely at the moment

We had to buy a 7.5 kg of Applaws (smaller ones out of stock everywhere at the time) which should last him till he's 10 months or so. We will then start to introduce adult food

Ah yes I heard that the kitten food can make them fat if they are neutered - guess I will just monitor him. He has quite a large frame so can probably cope with the extra calories
