How do I introduce our new kitten to our dogs?!

We picked up a new kitten last Thursday. She is gradually getting more confident with a busy house! She spends most of her days in our eldest daughters room (she is 20 so obviously very responsible).
We’ve had cats for 18 years, both died in the past 2 years. So our dogs are used to cats but just not this cat!
We have had very small introductions, ie we’ve carried her into a room where the dogs are and kept her at a large distance. Once she sees them she spits/hisses. The dogs have not been allowed to go up to her.
Are we doing the right thing? I am happy to work at this pace if this is the right thing? The very last thing I want to do is upset her as she seems to have settled so well. But do I introduce her more or just keep to once or twice a day? Is there anything else I should be doing?
Thank you!

Under supervision, just let them get on with it. Kittens/cats always initially hiss at new animals but I wouldn't be concerned. Given your dogs are accustomed to cats, I wouldn't be concerned. They will probably be getting along well very soon.

Oh I hope so! But one is a very dopey, excited Labrador and was being held but clearly wanted to dash over! I imagine one swipe might sort him out though 😂! Just don’t want to make her a nervous cat by getting this wrong.

Baby gate/ shut off your upstairs so she always has a safe space to go. Accessible high up perches so that she can get around the room without being at floor level in each room - doesn’t have to be cat furniture literally just arrange tables/chairs/shelves whatever you have. And obviously don’t allow them to chase her but I’m sure that goes without saying as you sound very caring.

I have introduced many kittens to my dogs over the years, and I have never had a problem. The kitten may hide from the dogs, but in my experience that doesn't last long. The kittens usually end up wanting to play quite soon.
