Flea treatment in tablet form?

Hi,

Does anyone know of a flea treatment for cats that is not topical? Preferably a tablet they can take.

I can't seem to find one. I'm UK based.

I could but I thought I'd ask on here first before bothering them

My vets always recommend a tablet.
Unfortunately the cat manages to vomit it back up an hour later so he has to have the drops.

@catbeansarelife there isn't one as far as I know. I've tried to get one as my dogs have tablet flea treatment and I W aged it for my cats too as my DD has multiple chemical sensitivities and I have to keep cats away from her for 48 hours each month after flea treatment. The vet practice I go to is excellent and have this flagged up.

I just dont know the safety or efficacy of the tablet forms. Not all OTC spot ons are safe or effective so i imagine the same could be true of tablets

Capstar looks like its a tablet. It just kills fleas, not eggs

Comfortis looks like a prescription only tablet

Comfortis is a prescription only flea treatment. Not one I have used much my clients prefer Bravecto.

Johnsons

I've always used the tablets I've bought them from Sainsbury's and wilkos in the past. I usually crush them and mix in with food. They seem to be much more effective that the spot on stuff my cat is super fluffy so it hard to treat her.

I use the Johnson’s flea tablets and they actually work, unlike the spot-on treatments and expensive flea collars I’ve tried.

Credelio is very effective and palatable but only available from vet or with prescription

@catbeansarelife - you could ask your vet about Program. It’s an injection that is given every six months.

We always used comfortis as our cat would freak out when we used a spot on. He only had to see the pipette to be literally climbing the walls. Bizarre as he was so chilled he was basically unconcious the rest of the time, it must have stung his skin or something, poor lad.
