Don’t know where or what to ask - allergies

DD1 and I would love to get a cat, but DD2 (4) has eczema and is often sneezy. I take anti-histamines all year round though I’m not sure what I’m reacting to, dust mites probably.

So my question is, how likely is it that DD2 would be allergic to the cat? I realise nobody can tell me for sure, but I’d be interested to hear any experiences. Or could I get her screened somewhere? It would be heartbreaking to have a pet then give it up, but I don’t want DD2 in discomfort or taking otherwise-avoidable medication 🤧😭

I was really, really allergic to my old cat. When we got our new pair, their kitten fur set off my allergies pretty bad and i needed daily antihistamines. It was pretty brutal to be honest especially as they liked to sleep round my neck. However they're now a year and a half and i have no reaction to them at all. Id say this is the case since they were about 6 months

The only test really is to expose your DD to cats, and see if she reacts.

How much exposure does it take to start reacting though? I don’t know anyone with a cat nearby, even when we’re allowed to visit people again
