I let my cat out and turned round and fed my cat. I only have 1 cat

Grin as the title says.
I let my 1 cat out the door, shut the door and turned round and my cat was waiting by her bowl to be fed.
2 days ago I was laid on the sofa with a cat laid on my window sill (inside) thought nothing of it at first as it didn't register it wasn't in fact my cat.
Its one with very similar markings and a very similar build and colour.
The thing is my cat normally hates other cats and will fight and hiss at any other cat who come anywhere near.

Not sure how new cat got in today and I'm putting it down to sleep deprivation as to why I keep automatically caring for new cat.

So I guess I have a new cat now then. Halloween Wink

Does it at least look similar?

Hmm ... 🤔 But your cat is hostile to other cats?

Sounds as if your cat is having some sort of ontological crisis and has actually split into two distinct entities. (All the better for double helpings of dinner.)

I suggest a really open minded cat psychologist. Or a priest ...

🙀

Schrödinger strikes again!!!

Sorry, without pictures, this just isnt believable.
Photos of both cats required 😻😻

Notsurewhatsgoingon · 23/10/2020 12:31

It's very similar looking. Il try get a picture of both. Possibly together.
I am very very sleepy but I know I'm not mad enough (yet) to be imaging a cat.
I always wanted another cat so Hmm guss I got my wish. Dcat seems uninterested in new cat.

I once stroked a cat sleeping on the bed. Did a double take. Not my cat. Grin

whatsbinhappnin · 23/10/2020 12:33

That's someone else's cat, not 'your new' cat Hmm

Notsurewhatsgoingon · 23/10/2020 12:36

@whatsbinhappnin yes I'm aware of that don't worry. I was joking about it being my cat. But to be fair it's been in here twice this week and I have not fed it.
Its gone out now anyway so probably off home.

I was looking after a friends cat during the summer, an indoor cat so was being very vigilant with which doors were open etc. Looked into the garden one morning and there was an identical cat sitting on the fence, I nearly had a heart attack. Obviously not my friends cat but for a few seconds it was iyswim........... friends cat has form for providing uncomfortable moments, the first time she stayed she found places to hide you would swear weren’t big enough for a mouse, I ended up crawling around my house shining a torch into dark spaces hoping to see eyes glaring back at me. She was eventually found squeezed under a wardrobe on the landing.

I think the OPs cat has clearly been on Long Lost Family and found a litter mate.

@Notsurewhatsgoingon
Ok good Grin so many people on here trying to steal other people's cats in this way Sad

We have a microchip cat flap and for about a month we had a smaller version of my cat hammering at the cat flap twice a day for my cat to come out and play. My old man cat was not impressed!

I remember my SIL fussing over her cat.

I insisted it wasn’t her cat, she insisted it was.

It wasn’t. Her cat was Male. This was a female

Love stuff like this!

This happened to me with my mums cat! She was away for the weekend and I went round to feed the cat, and found her waiting for me on the doorstep. Or so I thought! She followed me inside, ate the food then went straight out the cat flat, then my mums cat sauntered down the stairs to an empty bowl! I thought I was going mad. They were identical tortoiseshell colours and apparently my mum knew all about the other cat but she could tell the difference. I still can't!

Oh well, 2 fed cats is better than none!!

The twin of our cat lives next door. There is a sight size difference which you cannot tell unless you see them together. Fake cat has been known to come through my daughters window for a stroke. (My daughter apparently just wondered why our cat seemed a little smaller than usual)

Interesting our cat who is usually quite chilled with others hates fake version!
