Warning... Picture of cat poo. Does this look like blood

Sorry. Cat is 14yo, seems a bit quiet lately. I saw a blood stain on the carpet the other day and was suspicious the dog had eaten the cat poo and that there had been blood. Today I got to the poo before the dog and its definitely red in it.

Does the cat need a vet tonight or can it wait until Monday.

Im a bit of a worrier when it comes to my cats so I'd take him today.

There's a new neighbourhood cat which is stressing mine out loads. She doesn't want to go outside anymore. I was just reading that stress can cause it. I m hoping it's just that but will get her to the vet.

That looks very similar to my rescue cat's poo when we got her 2 weeks ago. Other posters said it was likely due to stress of new home etc. Only lasted 2 days and her poos now seem normal.
Also read that black stools are probably worse as more indicative of problem higher up her digestive tract. It appears that yours like mine seems to be blood at the end of her poo which may be due to constipation?

I’m going to see how she is over the weekend as I do think this might be stress. I’ll order some feliway stuff.

I wish she’d use the litter tray rather than going by the side of it. I got a second tray and put it where she was going and now she’s just moved further along the carpet!

My old 15 year old boy had poos like this, he also went on the carpet or in the bath. Vets said colitis and he was given anti inflammatories

Hi. What was the outcome of this in the end? Was your cat ok? What did the vet say? The same is happening with my cat.

Toddlerteaplease · 24/09/2023 11:41

My cat has it as I changed the cat food variety. (After buying 10kg of it) she had some prokaolin paste and put back on original food. It never reoccurred.

@Infracat
I hadn't realised that this was such an old thread. that you had posted on.
I would take your cat to be checked out. This happened to our beautiful girl (weirdly enough, at the same time that this original thread was posted). At first the vet treated her for colitis and we changed her food, but there was no improvement. She went on to have x-rays and was found to have an inoperable tumour.
It was only about 6 weeks from the first sign of blood in her poo to when we were told she was not going to get better.
Best to get your boy/girl checked out. xx
