my cat is hiding, advice on getting her out

I lost my cat at work (it's a large factory) and I just found out where she's been hiding. When I try to reach for her she hisses at me and backs away. I put some treats nearby but she hasn't gone for it yet. Any advice on how to get her out? I've left her food/water/litter tray so she's not hungry or anything. I've had her since she was a kitten, 11 years ago.

P.S
My boss said I could bring to work on Saturday because my property manager was doing inspections at the building I live in. I had her in the break room but she got out.

Food! Ask at your local vet for a cat trap. Shell come out when she's hungry

Poor thing must be terrified. Is there any danger of her getting out of the factory?

Do you know anyone with a trap (I wouldn’t) or could you speak to the vet for a mild sedative to put in her food so you can go back & get her when she’s calmer? Are you able to go back to work when it’s quieter to see if she would come? If treats aren’t working I’d be tempted to be cruel to be kind and just grab as fast as possible then spend lots of time settling her when you get her home. Could someone help you with blanking her escape route off so she can’t back away out of reach?

Did you have to take her because you aren’t allowed a cat & would be in trouble with an inspection or you were worried she would get let out? Just curious.

I have been waiting after work for it to be quieter but she still won't come out. The factory is very loud, I may have to ask the vet for either a trap or seditive. I can have a cat but the property manager is allergic and asked all the tenants to remove cats for the day. Thank you for your help.

Any news?

Blankblankblank · 20/08/2020 20:25

I hope the vet can help and you can get her home soon. Must be such a worry.

Ok might be stating the obvious here so forgive me. I find shaking the dreamies bag/tub or opening a can brings my cat out of anywhere.

Blankblankblank · 26/08/2020 07:56

@niveaessential have you managed to get her? I hope she is now safely at home with you.

bravotango · 26/08/2020 07:57

The only thing that worked for me was catnip!

niveaessential · 28/08/2020 01:08

Still haven't gotten her. I've tried all the suggestions but she won't budge. She hisses at me or runs along the shelf away from me. I don't want to stress her out, so I leave her alone most of the day.

I've borrowed a live animal trap from a co-worker, hopefully she'll go in there for her food during the night.

Any joy yet @niveaessential

I would leave nothing out so she'll get hungry and then finally make an appearance. Tough love!

Finally got her on Thursday in the live trap, no food since Monday! very stubborn cat lol

The vet said she was healthy so all's good Smile
