I have to give my cat up

Please be kind to me, I'm in pieces. For personal reasons I have to re-home my cat. There is no other choice and I have put it off for two years already. He is a rescue cat which makes me feel even worse, if thats possible. My question is, where do I even start?

You can try your local branch of rspva, cats protection league or local resvurs. Also vets often have clients looking to take on rescue cats.

Be very honest with them, if your cat hates kids, tell them, if they are a stroppy buggar tell them so they have the chance to find the best home.

Itsa tough decision and mustbevery hard for you Flowers

Must be really hard, OP Thanks with my rescues, the adoption agreement stated if I gave them up, they would either need to rehome them themselves, or home check and approve anyone I chose. I believe it was to stop people selling pets on or people adopting then using for dog fighting etc. Might be worth calling the charity you used to see if they would be able to sort it for you. They might be able to find a home directly from your home, minimising disruption for your cat.

Sorry you're going through this. This one of the reasons rescues exist. People's circumstances can change and they are there to help you and your cat.
You could start by contacting the rescue you got him from. Otherwise look on catchat to find a list of rescues in your area.

Donenow22 · 13/08/2020 16:38

You guys are so kind, thank you. I'll contact the rescue I got him from and see if they can help me.

I'm so sorry that you have to give him up. You're doing the right thing as you can't keep him. I hope you're OK 🌺

Oh gosh that's so hard. Flowers

Thank you. I'm honestly completely heartbroken. Every time I think about it I just burst into tears and can't stop crying. I love him so much. And I keep thinking about the day when I have to actually do it and he will think he is being abandoned l over again Sad

Why do you have to give him up OP? Is there any possible way you can keep him with you?

CiCiFreakingBabcock · 14/08/2020 02:16

@Donenow22 - my heart is sore for you and your boy, so sorry you're having to do this Sad

Furries · 14/08/2020 02:23

@Donenow22 - that’s very sad. Maybe others here can offer some guidance to help you not have to rehome?

Why do you need to rehome? And why wait for 2 years? Only asking as, maybe, you can Find a way to continue with him in your life.

Furries · 14/08/2020 02:28

@Donenow22 - actually, just re-read your post. So you’re rehoming for personal reasons, but you’ve waited 2 years? You really need to give more context (ie a cat with many issues will need different assessment to one who just isn’t wanted).
