Cat in holiday rental garden

We arrived yesterday eve at a holiday rental house and noticed most of today there has been a cat sleeping in the rear garden. No problem with this but it is still there. It wont belong to the owners. My question is do cats typically sleep outside most of the day in others' gardens? Am just concerned that its owner will be wondering where it is. It hasn't moved much so wondering if it is ok.

Oh yes - they find a comfy spot and that's it for the day. When they get peckish they saunter off home.

in hot weather my cat used to sleep outside in the shade all day.....sometimes the cat from over the road did as well.

My cat has slept in our garden the past two nights. It’s fresher in the evenings than inside.

Yep that sounds like the schedule of a cat. They sleep 15-20 hrs a day, most active at dawn and dusk. Your cottage obviously has a sunny spot. You could try stroking it to check it is ok, but then it will probably come back tomorrow for more strokes!

Lucky you. Does it seem friendly. Have you called it when it wakes up. I would put a bowl of water out maybe a plastic box if there is one.

Yep thats what cats do. Give it a little stroke if you are worried it hasn't moved at all. If its an outside cat the owners will be used to not seeing it for hours on end. Does the accomodation have a book people write comments in, if so you will probably find the cat featured in peoples comments. We always get excited if holiday cottages come with friendly animals.

As I am pleased this isn’t a moan! If it’s there again tomorrow, maybe stick a container of water out for it. It sounds pretty normal hot cat behaviour though

Oh that's good to hear. Its been warm today but the garden is North facing so lots of shady spots.
We all like cats in our family so will see if it is up for being gently stroked tomorrow, albeit not by all of us together. Smile

Ok will go and give it a stroke now and get DH to get something suitable for water

The cat is sooo cute and loved being stroked and cuddled but not interested in water bowl. I want to take the cat home It was purring away when I stroked it.

Holiday cats are great, you are so lucky all we got this year was a sheep but the farmer came and took him back.

Funny isn't it that we are all told to keep moving and exercise, while the moggies get away with being lazy feckers.

I am a cat really and ignore all that. lol.

Yep. My girl cat sleeps under the same bush in my garden all day long. Boy cat thinks he’s a dog so is attached to my feet. Hmm
