Please provide me some hope. Beloved cat is missing from home

My beloved indoor cat went missing from home on Monday evening. I adopted her 18 months ago after she was rescued from living rough by a cat charity. It was the charity who said she'd make a suitable indoor cat.
There's been no sign of her since. I've been out shouting, put cat litter by the doors, put up posters, done Facebook etc.

I'm heartbroken. Even if I do find how I don't know how I'd get her home as she's not a cat you can pick up (though did enjoy a stroke and fuss)
Has anybody else had an ex feral cat come home? Thank you

Is she chipped?. The rain washes away their scent so they find it harder to find home, you might want to expand your search area a bit to account for that.

Have you put her on your local fb spotted page, notified local vets & made sure your details are up to date on her microchip?.

The one advantage she has is that as an ex feral she will know how to survive and it’s baby bird season.

Empty hoover contents into a box and leave in garden. I would also go out late at night calling her name when it is quieter.
Has she ever been out of your house to know the area?

Liltzero · 18/06/2020 14:24

She is chipped but doesn't know the area. The previous times she's been out she's come home again in minutes.

I'm so worried for her. It has bern pouring rain all day.

I have the back door open and a window. In the window I've put the blanket she liked to sleep on and her favourite toy.

Also put out an unwashed t-shirt or jumper so she might be able to smell your scent.

Don’t lose hope yet, it’s early days! She may have got a bit scared with the rain and thunder.
Try to go out now or even later when it is quiet, or tomorrow very early morning (around 5am). Knock on doors and have people check their garages, sheds and vans. Ring the vets, local and not so local.
Yes even a semi-feral will come back, she will come for food and shelter. Do you have a garage or a shed you can leave open for her, with food and blankets, in case she comes back? Do you back onto fields or is it a builtin area?

Liltzero · 19/06/2020 12:46

I'm in a suburban area backing onto a school field.

I'll try putting her bed and some food in the shed. Thanks for the tip

Have you had chance to go out when it is quieter?

littlealexhorne · 19/06/2020 23:26

I've no real advice to add on from what PPs have said but I really hope she's home safe and well soon OP

You just need to keep leaving food outside - for weeks if necessary. Then, if you can't pick her up, you may need to borrow a trap.

RandomMess · 20/06/2020 18:37

She is likely frightened and hiding close by, but very well hidden.

MIL finally located her cat 50 yards from the house in a hedge but literally had to drag him out. They had been looking for days he was just terrified. Had him for 4 years and regularly went in their garden with them.

You need to look very carefully.

Just saw a cat reunited after 7 weeks so don't give up.

We had a cat who adopted us, jumped in our window, slept in our bed etc. We assumed it was a neighbours cat and yes we fed it ( oops we didn't know anything about cats at time). Came home after a weeks holiday to find it in our drive, skinny and miaowing! Asked about, noone knew whose it was, discovered about microchips, took it to vet. It was a cat missing from its owners who lived 15 miles away, had been missing for 6 months! And was a much loved pet, happy reunion. Of course we by then we were besotted and knew so much about cats we didn't before that we had to get 2 of our own! Both of them have been missing for 5 days at a time, always when it's really hot outside! Hope that reaaures you.
