Reubens waiting for you go so he can have some quiet time with the yarn.

Evie’s a proper girl isn’t she?.

JaceLancs · 14/06/2020 08:02

Evie is a bit of a diva
Reuben practices his rodent catching skills on my wool
WFH is regularly interspersed with rescue of birds or mice

Pumpkin, is that a recent photo, as the blue eyes suggest a very young kitten?
Fluffycloudland77 · 14/06/2020 08:55

icatcare.org/advice/helping-your-new-cat-or-kitten-settle-in/ New kitten advice, sometimes they like to explore their new house straight away so let the kitten decide what it wants to do.

Our boy called for his mum and sibling when we got home 😭 but soon forgot them when the food bowl appeared.

pumpkinpie01 · 14/06/2020 09:00

@GuppytheCat yes taken yesterday. I don't know how old he is , my friends sister found him abandoned and took him in but she has already got cats and dogs and is pregnant so really didn't want another. She has looked after him for a few days , flea treated him and bathed him and was going to start looking for a home but we have decided we would like him. ( it's not long since our dog died and we miss her terribly but we won't feel ready for another dog for quite a while )

TheGriffle · 14/06/2020 09:04

Here is my beautiful boy enjoying the sunshine the other week. Not bad for 11 years old!

@Fluffycloudland77 thank you , just had a read, really helpful.

GuppytheCat · 14/06/2020 12:11

Ah, that makes sense. He or she looks about 6 weeks- too little to leave mum in normal circumstances. You may need to help with the litter training more than normal ( plonk him in it after food and scrape his paws in the litter).

He’s much too little to go outside anyway, but he’ll need all his vaccinations from scratch once you can get to a vet.

Keep him on the food your sister used for the moment (I do hope it’s kitten food!) or he’ll get the squits.

I would ring a vet for worming advice, and weigh him daily.

Good luck!

pumpkinpie01 · 14/06/2020 15:52

Thanks , we have had him a couple of hours he has used the litter tray , had kitten food , played and is now fast asleep. The local pet shop has some worming syrup in on Tuesday so will go again then. Didn't think of weighing him but yes will do.

Wait for the vet to dispense a wormer, some otc cat meds are actually dangerous.

My colleague used Bob Martin flea spot on treatment and nearly killed her kitten. If she hadn’t nipped home at lunch she’d have died.

GuppytheCat · 14/06/2020 18:29

He looks very settled!

You’ll need to know his weight for the wormer. We use Panacur paste for foster kittens and you do it by teeny syringe gradations - but yes, get it sent out by a vet.

You can look up online how much weight he should be gaining each day. A single day without growth isn’t too bad but if he drops or flatlines over a few days, get advice.

I wonder how he came to be a lone stray? Were there others they couldn’t catch?

JaceLancs · 14/06/2020 22:07

Love a kitten x he seems very content

GuppytheCat · 14/06/2020 23:52

Found our fostering notes! He should be gaining about 15 g a day (at least 100g a week) if he’s about six weeks now.

Our last bunch of foster kits got so used to being weighed that they would hop into the weighing bowl themselves (sometimes several of them at once, which didn’t really help).

MintyCedric · 15/06/2020 00:03

@purrwhileheeats

I think he must be Edie's brother from another mother Grin!

Thanks everyone, no there weren't anymore nearby they could see. It was a stretch of road between 2 villages with no houses nearby☹️. It has settled in very well ( our dog died in lockdown this has been a welcome distraction for my ds6)

purrswhileheeats · 15/06/2020 20:37

@Fluffycloudland77 Kloppy is just a regular tabby but if anyone asks I will tell them he's a very rare seal point Bengal Wink hanging

Minty a very familiar pose Grin

purrswhileheeats · 15/06/2020 20:39

Erm don't know where the random 'hanging' came from Confused

Is there anything cuter than pink toe beans? I don’t think there is?
