Where do your cats sleep at night

Mine would love to be in bed with us but one in particular loves to sit on my head in the middle of the night Grin and the other lives to claw the bed so they have their own"bedroom".

Ours come up with us whatever time we go to bed, sit having cuddles for a few minutes then Loki carries on with that while Otto has a hunting session with Dp's feet! Then they go off and do 'runnings' which is basically like a herd of them going up and down the stairs a few times. Then they come and find a nook next to or between my or Dp's legs under the duvet. At some point in the night they get too hot and move to between us but on top of duvet. At around 5.15 Otto starts tapping one of us with his paw to gently suggest he's absolutely starving, and as soon as he gets even the tiniest response he shouts about how it's been weeks since he was fed. They get fed by dp as he's an early bird, then return to bed for cuddles with me, usually on my pillow or curled up against my belly.

1 on a chair, 3 on sofas, 1 at the top of the cat tree, and 1 either in the saucepan cupboard or in the laundry basket. I'd happily have them all in the bedroom but DH says no.

therona · 06/05/2020 00:11

One sleeps in the cat tower in the living room and the other sleeps on the chair next to my bed. She always starts meowing at sunrise so I take her downstairs then, but I can't bring myself to keep her down there all night - I'm far too soft!

HoppyHop · 06/05/2020 00:12

In his igloo in the utility room (the small section with heated tiles!), on radiator in DD's bedroom or on DD's bed (taking up most of it, she's 15 and it's only a single bed!).

Itwasntme1 · 06/05/2020 00:24

Mine also likes to burrow under the covers, but only if I lift my knees up to create a tent 😂.

She Sometimes manages to get me to do it in my sleep, and I often wake up in agony, knees bent and her curled up in the depths of the duvet. She is very cross when the tent disappears.

MrsMoastyToasty · 06/05/2020 00:31

In their boxes in the kitchen. They have a cat flap so they're free to go in and out but the door between the kitchen and the hall is kept shut. Although they're pretty nocturnal judging by the amount of "gifts" we get. (At least the kitchen can be mopped down if their prey didn't die quietly).

AravisTarkheena · 06/05/2020 00:43

One either side of me in bed, one on crook of knee, one by chest. They sleep on the bed all day too so I reckon they think it’s their bed.

Mine also get up when I get up now! Incredible! They just stay put until I wake up - I don’t know how this happened but it’s great.

MashedSpud · 06/05/2020 00:44

Mine lies next to me on the sofa eyeing up my seat every time I lean forward. When I get up to go to bed she looks at me for five seconds then jumps into my bum-warmed seat. When I wake up she’s usually back on her side of the sofa.

TyroSaysMeow · 06/05/2020 00:45

For preference (theirs) the little cat sleeps on the other pillow and the boss cat takes the foot of the bed, opposite side to the little cat of course, so I am forced to sleep diagonally.

Since the start of the Great Flea Debacle of 2017-19, however, the bedroom door has been firmly closed. Little cat curls up on the other side of it, while boss cat prefers the triangular turning step on the stairs, where she is well placed to indicate her displeasure with the new arrangements by causing me to nearly break my neck on multiple occasions.

working5to9 · 06/05/2020 00:57

The cat comes and lies on DC2's bed for stories and stays with him for a few minutes afterwards, sometimes longer. Then she stalks around waiting for DC1 to go to bed. She curls up beside DC1 and they go to sleep together... or so DC1 thinks. The cat re-appears downstairs about half an hour later, demolishes her food and then heads out into the night. She favours our bedroom window to the cat flap as her access point which is annoying as she makes a bit of noise and will be chilly in winter but I'm hoping it might reduce the number of "presents" she brings us as it's a bit of a scramble even for a cat to get to the window. She usually comes back at some point in the night (she re-appeared a few seconds ago) but goes out again before morning and generally returns just before the alarm goes off. She looks a bit sheepish if she comes back and I'm out of bed.

My older girl sleeps in the kitchen with the dog

My little boys sleep all over. Some times on their scratch posts or the bathroom mat or the stairs. Bedroom doors are shut at night

In the morning the kids let them in my room. Mr Rigby sleeps on the pillow next to me with his face no further than an inch away from mine and his paw on my face. Monty stays at my feet or on the windowsil

xeniiia · 06/05/2020 01:21

Outside. He hates being shut in at night

Mum2b2020 · 06/05/2020 01:33

We shut ours in the kitchen/dining room and they sleep in a radiator bed or on the cushions on the dining chairs. They'd be on our bed if we allowed it but they move around too much and wake us up. Plus we have a new baby so we wouldnt allow it now anyway. If we let them in the rest of the house they'd be jumping at our doorhandle or scratching to get in.

madcatladyforever · 06/05/2020 01:37

My 19 year old girl starts off on my bed then moves (because I snore and thrash about) into her enormous fluffy dog bed right next to my bed.
She likes to stretch right out so a cat bed is no good for her. She likes to be surrounded by her soft toys.

LongPauseNoReply · 06/05/2020 04:04

One who sleeps in the sink in the bathroom so we have to wash our hands in the bath if we need to pee in the night Grin

Another who sleeps between DH and myself on our pillows, like a person, complete with duvet covering him. He then rotates between the foot of the bed and the pillows throughout the night. He wakes me at 6 every morning by climbing into my chest for cuddles but at 7kg it can be painful Grin

IHateCoronavirus · 06/05/2020 04:46

Ours sleeps by day on the baby cauliflowers!
I dreamt of having a kitty to snuggle up with. Ours comes in the front door and goes straight to the back foot wanting to be let out again! She is a high energy little thing but I love her.
Funny thing is she was going to be a house cat! It was only when the vet said she was the most hyperactive cat she’d met and would never make a house cat that I took the plunge to try her outdoors.

bringonyourwreckingball · 06/05/2020 04:47

Wherever they like. Boy cat usually on a blanket on a footstool in the lounge or dd2’s bed, girl cat usually under or on our bed/on my chest - she’s quite small fortunately

Theonewiththecat · 06/05/2020 05:00

Dcat comes to bed at the same time as us, if he's asleep on the sofa I carry him to bed.
He then gets into bed between us, if he wants all the strokes he lies next to me- if he just wants to sleep he'll lie next to DP, cos she just puts her arm around him.
He'll move at some point to either his basket or his cat tower, both in our bedroom.
If he goes for a poo through the night he has a mad 5 mins and races around the house- and I shout things like 'who put 50p in the dickhead' and 'go and harass dd, she likes you' but soon enough he's back in bed, trying to push me out.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 06/05/2020 05:03

I do t have a cat, occasionally I open the bedroom curtains and this fluffy ginger thing is on my windowsill though 😂

TKAAHUARTG · 06/05/2020 05:34

Everyone in this house swears the cat slept with them that night. We think he must do the rounds so we all have a turn. He is a massive diva though, so it sounds about right.

sashh · 06/05/2020 05:50

Whereever she likes. At night usually on me, but it has been:
living room radiator
Desk drawer
A book shelf
A basket
Any type of craft project
My dad, if he is visiting, I don't get a look in then
My next door neighbour (she convinced him and his grandchildren she was a starving kitten)
Any spot of sunshine inside or out - this is more daytime naps rather than several hours
My other neighbour's wheel bin

sashh · 06/05/2020 05:51

The last one was me sortinig the washing on the floor, I put aload in and came back to a sleeping cat.

Imstillskanking · 06/05/2020 06:11

She likes to mix it up. On the bed with us, on the sofa, under the bed, spare room, book case, door mat, baby's change table... probably a load of other places that I don't know about

Theonewiththecat · 06/05/2020 06:13

Heres the offending animal in his basket with his blanket.

Where do your cats sleep at night
allformykids · 06/05/2020 12:24

On our pillows every night!!! Can't get a proper sleep and they are awake at 6am.... worse than the actual kids 🤣
