We've had two female, neutered, rescue cats for about 5 months now. They were about a year old when we got them. One is more nervous than the other, but they now get on well and both seem to have settled in well.
About a month ago I realised that one of them had been weeing on ds's chair which he sits in to use the computer/play games, etc. Treated, soaked, and laundered the removable cushion. Told him to put something in it when not in use, to discourage whichever cat it was.
A few days ago, caught cat 1 peeing on the sofa where dh regularly sits. Have caught her squatting down a number of times since, and although it's been prevented those times, it's obv she's done it when we're not around. Again, treated with cat specific cleaner and cleaned, but can't remove all cushions, so it's going to start smelling.
Any idea why she does it, and how to stop it? We have two litter trays which are cleaned whenever we see something in there. They are indoor cats mostly, but do get a few supervised 20 min sessions outside a day. I'm not very eager to let them come and go as they please because of dogs in each garden on all three sides.
Am paranoid we're going to stink. Any advice?
