OMG I am a genius. Kitten/Cat Reveal Parties...

Inspired by another thread about bloody baby showers, I believe I have come up with an amazing idea which all of you Litter Tray inhabitants will love

Drum roll...

Cat/Kitten showers! If you get a new cat or kitten you must hold a Kitten Reveal Party and invite all your friends and family to celebrate the arrival of your new feline friend. They can bring gifts for the cat. If you are a CF you could have a gift list at Pets At Home etc.

(I'm actually thinking of setting this up as a business, a bit like a party planner but for cats. Cat shaped balloons, fairy cakes with cat faces on, cat banners. Perhaps a tiny crown for the cat to wear.)

I genuinely think this is a good idea and I would love to go to one. In fact I really want a new cat just so I can throw my own Cat Reveal Party. Who wants to come?

I could do cat I birthday parties too!

The only problem you'd have with kittens is that the 'reveal' moment would be something like this -

'There's a fairly large gap between the holes, so I think it's a girl'
'No, look, you can definitely see the beginnings of testicles - it's a boy'
'I go by face shape and that's 100% a girl'
'But look at the size of it - boys are always bigger - you've got a boy there for sure'.

TheLongRider · 11/02/2020 11:34

Have you tried to keep a tiny crown on a cat? Grin

TheMemoryLingers · 11/02/2020 11:42

Ha ha! My cats would be on the ceiling before a tiny crown got anywhere near their heads!

wowfudge · 11/02/2020 11:43

Don't forget your own line of greetings cards to and from said felines!

FAQs · 11/02/2020 11:45

I’ve got cats, my cats would be embarrassed and the dog would take the piss out of them.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 11/02/2020 11:57

Well aren't you all negative nellies!

Point taken about the tiny crown though. We have photoshop however. Or Snapchat, my DC all seem to have cat ears themselves atm Hmm(ooooh! Snapchat for cats, there is another brilliant idea! Snapcats?)

Yes, I think the actual sexing of the kittens is unnecessary and they are sex reveal parties anyway NOT gender as the unveiling of the actual kitten, or cat, is excitement enough, IMO.

I think my cat would like it as she does have a birthday celebration every year where she gets presents and Special Cat Food as a treat. She does do a good line in Fuck Off Faces but she does like presents. Well she likes the wrapping paper and the ribbons more, to be honest.

The party game would need to be "hunt the kitten" as a new kitten is only going to react to strangers in the house by finding somewhere totally unfeasible to hide. Like balanced on the soil-pipe between the loo and the wall, or inside a rucksack in the hall.

TheLongRider · 11/02/2020 13:01

Don't forget a nice new box for the kitten/cat to play in. Just like the Scandinavian baby boxes.

Actually there's an idea, a cat box with toys, litter tray, vouchers for cat food and extra litter... OP do you want to go into business together?

TheLongRider · 11/02/2020 13:03

The number of threads on here called "What do I need for a new kitten?" I think a baby cat box would work perfectly.

QuantumEntanglement · 11/02/2020 13:25

Hmm. I perceive a financial opportunity here OP. Would you like to collaborate? All 4 of my cats are willing to -very briefly- reveal themselves for treats. I’m thinking of hiring them out for milestone parties/hen dos and the like, the party-ers would have to come here to my house though since my cats don’t do cat carriers. There’d also be a strict ‘look but don’t touch‘ policy since they’re really really averse to strangers oh and the tiny crowns won’t be happening. Nope. Nuhuh. Other than that we’re good to go. Grin

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 11/02/2020 14:04

I think it's a brilliant idea. Would you do it for older cats when they are adopted? Obviously Harry is going to live forever (or until he bankrupts me) but if something went wrong and he didn't I'd love a party for my new adult cat!

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 11/02/2020 15:24

Cat box idea is inspired! It is actually a really good idea. And adopted/adult cats definitely included. In fact I think they should have an extra present, just because.

Love the idea of cat hide and seek, but I think Kitten Reveal Parties are only advised once kitten has settled in sufficiently that they will appreciate the opportunity for carnage social aspect of a party in their honour.

Quantum forgive me if I got this wrong, but are you basically suggesting people pay you to come and look at your cats? Grin and they won't even wear the tiny crown? I like your style, frankly Wink

Well I think there is enough like minded people here for us to get together and take this to Dragon's Den?

Well, yeah, when you put it like that it sounds bad but they are very good-looking cats so there’s that. I’m thinking also a You Tube channel with product placement deals and affiliate links for clients so people get more bang for their buck perhaps. Dragons Den here we come! Wink

Cats hate crowds of strangers descending on their new territory

KittenVsBox · 11/02/2020 20:27

Does it need to reveal the sex of the (soon to be neutered kitten), or could you have a cake cut to choose your kitten colour. Carrot cake, and you get a marmalade tabby, dark chocolate cake for a panther, marble cake for a tuxedo, and three coloured marble cake for a calicio.....

Love the box idea. Please include neutering details..........

violetbunny · 12/02/2020 06:06

Sounds like a great way to terrify a cat... Hmm

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 12/02/2020 10:01

I love that some people are genuinely fearful that we will be actually blowing up balloons and waving tiny crowns near cats Wink

I do actually think the kitten/new cat boxes are a genius idea though. Also liking the correctly coloured cake, what cake would you do for very floofy long haired cats such as Maine Coons? Hairy cake doesn't sound that attractive really Grin

We can tell Dragon's Den we already have a target market sussed with The Litter Tray demographic. YY to You Tube advertising, as surely the Internet was designed so we could all look at cute cat videos?

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 12/02/2020 10:04

Actually I made a coconut lime layer cake once which had (dessicated?) coconut flake things on the outside and that cake looked a little bit hairy.

Tasted nice though.

IreneWinters · 12/02/2020 10:21

I see a minor flaw in your business plan, OP. If the point of the kitten/cat reveal party is to reveal the surprise that you now have a new kitten/cat, won’t the guests get a rather large clue when an invitation arrives on their doormat with the words “you are invited to my Kitten Reveal Party” in big letters? I suppose you could just call it a “reveal party” but some guests might be a little alarmed, and you almost certainly wouldn’t get the gifts you would want. It could be a “Pet Reveal Party” - is it a kitten? Or a puppy? Surprise! It’s a lizard!

nettie434 · 12/02/2020 10:30

I can’t wait to see you on Dragon’s Den Webuilttciscityonsexistroles along with contributions from ThelongRider Wowfudge and KittenVsBox.

For cats and kittens who don’t like crowds (or who go out and can’t be relied upon to come home in time for their party), you could have a video message like winners at the BAFTAs, Golden Globes etc where the actors say how disappointed they were not be there, greatest honour etc.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 12/02/2020 12:01

Green, but hairy.

TheLongRider · 12/02/2020 14:42

I made an awful cake that bore no resemblance to DH's cat. I used grated chocolate for the stripes on the tail and mascarpone icing for the coat. It tasted better than it looked.

OMG I am a genius. Kitten/Cat Reveal Parties...
bellinisurge · 12/02/2020 14:45

A piss up looking at cat videos rather than scaring the shit out of a real cat sounds much better. With or without cake.
