Kitten diarrhoea advice. No pics but a bit gross.

We brought our kitten home on Thursday, He has had diarrhoea since yesterday and is drinking a lot. The colour has changed from brown to light brown and is getting wetter. He seems fine and is in great spirits. He is still eating well and playing a lot. We started him on whiskers kitten dry food, but have switched to Purina, we mix the wet and dry. We have another cat and he did eat some of the adult cat food. He had a long journey on Thursday night. We are going to take him to the vet tomorrow but has anyone had this with a kitten?

When changing foods you need to change over gradually otherwise you can have upset tummies. This may be what's caused the diarrhoea. However kittens are quite delicate so definitely get him vet checked tomorrow.
Kittens may look cute but what comes out the other end is generally quite the opposite!

Try some small pieces of raw pork

I think its the change in food but we are going to phone the vet this morning. Not sure about using raw pork, will that not make it worse?

Don’t give him raw pork, I’m not sure where that idea comes from. Poached chicken is a better idea.

Our kitten had a poorly tummy. Vet gave antibiotics and we found a food with probiotics, called Applaws that seemed to help. Good luck.

Definitely not raw pork! Isn't there something in pork which can make cats ill? I could be wrong but wouldn't chance it.

Use a bland diet for a few days then introduce a cat food gradually.

We had this with a kitten and after a couple of days I saw blood in the poo- she had worms and was malnourished. The vet wormed her and gave us some hills I/d digestive care to settle her stomach, she was allowed a teaspoon every couple of hours. She was fine after a week, seeing solid poo from her was the best thing ever!

The person who I rescued/bought my kitten from informed me upon collection that the kittens had diarrhoea. She then went on to say she had been feeding them corned beef. Anyway once we got her home we just gave her whiskas kitten food. By the next day her poop was almost normal.

I am going to try cooked chicken, when our adult cat had a dodgy stomach she let us know by crying and is miserable. But he seems fine and is still a hyper kitten, I only noticed when I went to do the litter trays.

Do you know what food kitten had before?
Changing food quickly may cause this and also whiskers dry food is not going to contain much meat and will be filled with bulking agent. I would look into better quality dry food by reading through threads on here. Looks expensive but they eat less as the meat content is so much higher.
We wanted grain free and currently have Applaws kitten food and natures menu kitten wet food (half in morning and half at night)
Zooplus have high quality dry food to read through.
Do you know when the kitten was last wormed?

Raw pork!? Good grief, just no.

Poached chicken with a tablespoon of white rice cooked in the water at the same time is a good bland food for cats and kittens and has always worked for me. You can use this mixture to introduce new food too by increasing the percentage of the new food.

I’d get a grain free dry kitten food like Applaws or similar.

He's getting better but he is still bloated. The vet thinks it his food but he is to back Tuesday if he doesn't get better. One of the cats was sick in the middle of night. I suspect it was the kitten. He may have been eating the adult cat food last night even though it's out of his way. I don't get how he can have a dodgy stomach but still eat so well.

No idea what he was on before. DH thinks it was Whiskers, he picked him up.

I would get him wormed, pretty sure bloat is also a sign, our kitten was puffed up like a little ball surprised the vet wouldn't mention that as a possible cause.

She did but he wasn't due his worming until today.

We have always done the bland cooked chicken, it's the best way. The vet can give you a thickener paste to give to him so he can produce more solids if its still a problem.
P.S he's so handsome!

He's been back to the vets today and she is certain that he has worms. So he is now on the wormer powders for next 4 days. He met some dogs at the vet and wasn't bothered at all.
