Is it completely crazy to buy DCat her own cashmere blanket?

My gorgeous girl is an Arabian Mau and as such, doesn't have a 'vest' underneath her main coat. We live in the ME and for most of the time, her lack of vest isn't a problem given the heat, but right now it's pretty cold!

This morning, I'm getting ready to go to work and I make the mistake of laying my long cashmere cardigan on the bed. Next thing you know, she's snuggled herself almost inside it and was most upset when I had to move her.

I am now seriously considering buying her her own cashmere blanket so she can be cosy all the time. Has anybody else been lured into buying their creatures extravagant items because you can't bear to see/hear them unhappy? Or am I bonkers?

The teepee is from Lazy Days pet beds.

I lived in Latin America for a while and in winter the houses were freezing during a cold snap because everything was set up to keep houses cool and there was no central heating.
So it could be warmer outside than in.

I’ve got a red cashmere jumper with a small hole in it, waiting to be recycled, I’d happily donate to your cat

catwithnohat · 27/01/2020 18:42

If I could afford it for my aging Siamese I would but since I can't they have to make do with fleece blankets/vetbed fur/our bed/random clothes they hop onto before they can be put away (clothes not cats)

That's when they're not velcro-ed to the radiators or usSmile

You can make fairly Elaborate cat beds from an old crisp box and a shirt with a fluffy interior if you Google

RachelTension · 28/01/2020 04:26

I love that teepee, little miss would too I expect!

fluffy it is 0722 and is 6c, but sunny, clear skies. It won't last for long I'm sure, the heat is around the corner...

catwithnohat yes! Same here and fleece blankets are working to a point. Until yesterday Grin

zoe what a kind offer, thank you Flowers

myshitisreal this is very creative. I'm not imaginative in that way, but this could work, traditional cat beds don't seem to work with my two..

Probably not, I bought most of our pets blankets from charity shops. We did have a heated memory foam dog bed, in a smaller size, for our cat. Our grand-cat has inherited it.

AdachiOljulo · 28/01/2020 05:27

it doesn't have to be cashmere. our DCat is totally besotted with a velvety throw blanket that was £5 from Wilkinsons.

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/01/2020 06:42

6c with no heating is brutal. Do you have portable heaters?.

We used to put hot water bottles under our cats blankets.

mogloveseggs · 28/01/2020 06:53

@AdachiOljulo ours is too!! I need to buy myself a new one now

Myshitisreal · 28/01/2020 12:17

She has beautiful markings 😍😍. Traditional beds don't work for our two either. They also have 2 boxes to sleep in which I change regularly. Sometimes they just won't take to a box, little rascals 😂

Toddlerteaplease · 28/01/2020 13:22

The late Maia, adored the texture of towels.

RachelTension · 28/01/2020 14:36

I'll check those out adachi I wonder if Wilko is online..

fluffy I should have said, it was 6c outside, I've got the portable plug in heaters cranked up so it is warmer inside.

Myshitisreal thank you! She has one on the side that looks like a heart which is very sweet!

Towels! Hmm haven't tried that one toddler

Mine took over the fleece blanket on the sofa - I got myself another one, & still have to fight over that even though the old one belongs to them now. Dirt cheap, tenner in the supermarket job, they love them!

They also have 2 sheepskins along the back of the sofa, and have been known to fight over which one gets the preferred skin.

ClientQueen · 28/01/2020 19:44

Skyeskins sheepskin pet mats. I may have bought one for his igloo in case he got cold Hmm

Nonstopbuttmachine · 28/01/2020 21:05

OP I'm in Cyprus and it's bloody freezing here at night! ❄️ Portable heaters on downstairs, fleecey onesie on but I have to make a dash upstairs and dive into bed at 11pm ❄️❄️❄️

Difficult to peel the cats off me at bed time when they're all snuggly and warm 😺😺

Alsoco · 28/01/2020 21:10

Not unreasonable in the slightest! Bet you your cat, however, will be completely unreasonable and refuse to use something specifically bought for him 😂

AdachiOljulo · 28/01/2020 21:33

@RachelTension here but they only deliver within the uk sadly

RachelTension · 29/01/2020 04:47

You're all absolutely correct - it won't matter what she gets she'll be the judge of when she gets to hunker down, despite strategically placed boxes/blankets/igloos.

nonstop my DB & DSIL are in Cyprus and they're saying the same. It's their first winter there and I think they thought it would be wall to wall heat!

adachi thank you. I may just get one for myself, though then starts the cycle of mine v hers... Grin

OP it was 8c one day last week at sea level; even when it's 18c during the day the temperature plummets at night! Hope they've got plenty of cats to keep them warm? 🤔
