We first saw her in garden last weekend but she just wandered through.
Then she came on Christmas eve and was friendly, adult DC stroked her. Our cat hissed at her through window., she cried for over an hour but we went out and went next door who run a dog hotel was scared off when dogs went out.
Today she is back and still here crying at the door, we finally gave in and fed her this evening, but cant let her on because of our cat, but given her shelter outside.
Going to take her to vets tomorrow to see if she is chipped, and put picture up on local Facebook.
She is gorgeous and looks in good condition , very fluffy.
What else can we do,? I would keep her if she got on with our own cat.

Sweet. Nice that you're continuing to look after her.
Have you effectively got another cat...?

bruffin · 02/01/2020 17:34

Yes !!

I'd be concerned she's not spayed and could be pregnant if she's young and very hungry... Usually cat charities would give it about 7 days to see if a cat is claimed, and if not, then it can be classed as stray and neutered if needed. Often vet's can check by shaving some fur at the flank and looking for the spay scar, although sometimes they can't see the scar and need to operate as if to spay to be sure. You should probably talk to your vet about this sooner rather than later to make sure you don't end up with way more cats than you bargained for!

Sounds like she's chosen a perfect new home 😊

wheresmymojo · 02/01/2020 18:28

I foster cats for Cat Protection and the eating habits she has suggests she could have been stray for a while.

Obviously no-one can know 100% but stray cats tend to become extremely food focused because they've gone through extended periods of not knowing where their next meal will come from.

She may well stay this food focused for the rest of her life.

I fostered a previously stray cat who went on to have kittens while she was with us...the kittens never had any reason to worry about food but even they picked up the food focus from their Mum (and are still like it now as we have two of the kittens three years later and they still steal human food at any opportunity!)

wheresmymojo · 02/01/2020 18:29

She's beautiful though and clearly chose a new human very well. Cats know. Grin

The only thing is she is in really lovely condition, vet said so as well. Can't really see from picture but her coat is quite long, much fluffier than our cat and she is really clean. She does prefer garden to litter tray, but then so does our cat.

Congratulations on your new addition op...
Think her name may not suit for much longer!!

Beamur · 02/01/2020 19:59

Perhaps she is a stray, but maybe not for very long.
Pretty girl.

OP, with regards to the food, you can buy cat feeders that recognise your cat's chip and will only allow that cat to eat the food. They are not cheap but do work really well, you might be able to get away with only one, for your resident cat.

nzeire · 03/01/2020 07:57

She’s gorgeous!!!

GuppytheCat · 03/01/2020 15:14

Crikey, OP, I did a double-take there (but DS says our mog is upstairs on the bed, so it's not her).

She's very distinctive, even if she does have a twin here. Have you tried the various missing cat sites nationally as well as locally, to see if someone has got back to a catless house after Christmas?

(If she resembles ours in personality as well as floof, she's probably a bit dim and could have got into a car/forgotten how to use the catflap.)

JKScot4 · 03/01/2020 15:17

Bear in mind cats often get lost far from home after jumping in vans, under cars, I’ve scanned cats and found them to be a long way from home. I’d post on some of the national lost cat/pet FB groups.

smartiecake · 03/01/2020 15:18

Beautiful cat. So pleased you are feeding her and giving her shelter. Hope it is a happy ending for you and the cat

bruffin · 03/01/2020 21:03

I've posted on Pets Reunited and Animal Search posters up my road, high road and road that backs on to us.
Searched local fb and tried to post on spotted in, but that didn't work.

Have also searched lots of websites for missing cats

It’s so frustrating when you know it’s a lost pet but for want of a microchip she’s staying lost.

Your doing a good thing by taking her in though.

bruffin · 03/01/2020 21:26

Forgot she is also registered at Vets as a found cat.

Well done and good on you for caring for her. Sadly not everyone is as kind hearted as you. I have grown up with cats and we have 2 now. We always get rescue cats. I can't imagine living in a house without a cat 🐈 in it .

JKScot4 · 03/01/2020 22:27

Have you notified Cats Protection, they have many lost/found registered

sashh · 03/01/2020 22:49

Another who used to foster.

When she comes into the house make sure there are two ways for her and your first cat to get away from each other, you can do this with book shelves, furniture etc.

You know when you see a cat doing the uppy downy walk on the top of a fence? That is a cat crossing another's territory.

LOL, that may be how mine found her way here, she loves a good sit in a van. We warn Tesco but their drivers are used to her, one of the yodel drivers actually filmed her and Teco now have a procedure for 'cats found in vans when they return'.

BrightnessFalls · 06/01/2020 21:58

Congrats on your new cat!

bruffin · 18/01/2020 10:02

Update
She is bullying my cat

She really is a lovely little cat, great when she is on her own, but as soon as she sees my cat she hisses and goes for my cat who is now petrified of her .We spend a lot of time cat juggling.
Thankfully she is not scoffing food down in one anymore now she gets food regularly.

However DS has put in an offer on his first house which should go through really quick as no chain and they are going to take little one. His gf adores her and they will give her a good home.

Oh dear, she’s obviously an only child at heart.
