Visiting huge friendly puppy wanting to play with grouchy cat....what could go wrong?

We have a huge wants to be everyone’s friend puppy staying for Christmas and New Year.

He wants to plat with our grouchy VErY Pissed off cat. We’ve made sure the cat has safe places but he won’t go to them. It’s his house and he ain’t going to be shifted. There’s a lot of hissing. I’m worried he’s going to hurt the puppy.

Trying to distract dog and keeping them apart is like a french farce. Any tips?

The puppy is going to have to learn that cats have claws. Now is a great time for the owners to work on the "leave it" command.

A child gate that's "puppy proof" would give the cat another option to escape and get away from the puppy? Either to keep the dog in one room, or at the bottom of the stairs
