Can I introduce you to my gorgeous new kitten?

An abandoned cat had kittens behind the shed near our house. We called local cat rescue and they were fostered. Sadly 4 of the five kittens died. After my old grey lady died three years ago I decided no more cats as the loss was hard.
We decided this was meant to be and now have mummy and kitten. Had them 5 weeks now and they are utterly gorgeous!

Gorgeous 🧡. What is kitten called? Do you have a picture of mummy cat?

HeronLanyon · 11/12/2019 19:00

Extremely beautiful ! Congrats.
Way back a pregnant cat adopted us and had a litter of five. We managed to regime 3 of them and kept the two who seemed to be less popular when friends came to look and choose ! Thank god because those two ended up being the most wonderful wonderful lovely cats. Much missed. Much loved. The mum cat went back to her owner (who knew she was with us and grateful we dealt with the pregnancy/birth/rehoming - indeed she was at the birth. Her life was a little ‘chaotic’ at the time. )
How lovely you have two new gorgeous babs.

Oh my days that is a BEAUTIFUL kitten! So precious. And I'm a dog person not a cat person, so that's high praise indeed 🐱 what is mini cat called?

Drogonssmile · 11/12/2019 19:16

On what a handsome young sir 😍 have you a pic of mumcat?

Vinorosso74 · 11/12/2019 19:18

He is gorgeous! Looks like he's going to be quite a big lad. I'd like pictures of mum cat too.

MissConductUS · 11/12/2019 19:26

We lost a much loved and lovely cat last spring, at only 8 years old. We have two others, including her brother. I have not felt the urge to bring in another furball until recently. There's a Petsmart store near us who hosts rescue cats for adoption and there is a lovely sweet 4 month old tuxedo girl there who has cast her love spell on me. Now I just have to convince DH. Smile.

Your kitten is gorgeous and I'm sure he or she will be thrilled to have you as his or her hooman slave to become part of your family.

Gorgeous!! What are their names? Lucky you!

MrsIronfoundersson · 11/12/2019 19:39

Gorgeous!!! I would love a ginger cat, we've had a long history of black/b&w.

KrampusTime · 11/12/2019 20:15

He is the spit of my boy! Ginger tigers are the best.

Awww they're beautiful! Keep the pictures coming please!

KrampusTime · 11/12/2019 21:52

Blimey the mum looks like a kitten too!

oohnicevase · 11/12/2019 21:52

Ahh she looks so young too ! Well done for giving them a lovely home . 😻😻

chocolatespiders · 11/12/2019 22:03

She does look young.. cat rescue charity thought she was about 9 months but vet thinks about 18 months. Giving birth on cold mud must have been awful for her. I cant look at the photo of the heap of new born kittens knowing only one survived. The vet thinks they were premature and Teddy was the biggest of them.
Me and my girls love them and they are thoroughly spoilt. Mum has started to go out and kitten is so excited when she comes back in and it is lovely to see.
Kitten is still feeding once a day off mum - does that just gradually stop?

OP posts:
HeronLanyon · 11/12/2019 22:07

I’ve completely forgotten how and when they stop feeding. I remember a period of the kittens feeding and having some food at the same time. Also periods of kittens being ready for food but not knowing what to do with it and just sitting in the bowl excited but not sure why. Can’t quite remember how we determined when to provide food. Sure there will be expert advice here soon.
They
Are both gorgeous btw.

Vinorosso74 · 11/12/2019 22:12

Mum is very pretty! I'm not sure on the feeding; I would think they must just self wean. I'm assuming she was spayed whilst in the charity's care?

sweetkitty · 11/12/2019 22:17

Both are gorgeous, mum looks like a wee kitten herself. One of mine was born outside in a garden luckily in the Summer, rescue managed to trap them all eventually and rehome them.

They are both so lucky to have a lovely forever home with you now

chocolatespiders · 11/12/2019 23:06

Mum was neutered while with the cat fosterer and I thought that would stop the milk but having googled it says milk will continue to be produced for as long as it is being taken out. No problem although mum may get fed up with it!
Kitten has plenty of solids, dry food, wet food and occasional simmered white fish.
They are currently play fighting on the stairs!

ringme · 11/12/2019 23:14

They’re both gorgeous OP!

ch3rrycola · 11/12/2019 23:17

Mum will let him know when she's had enough.
Both gorgeous
