It's not going to happen!

Toddlerteaplease · 25/11/2019 16:45

Ps it's not even advent yet!

thaegumathteth · 25/11/2019 16:46

Hahaha no

TheNamesBond · 25/11/2019 16:48

That is one of the cutest photos I have seen since I took a photo of my own kitten happily ensconced in our Christmas tree.

We sprayed our lower tree branches with a cinnamon /pine oil “Christmas” fragrance, and she left it alone.

There is an upside to Christmas and kittens.... Our kitten used to eat tinsel and have sparkly poos!!!

Avihoot · 25/11/2019 16:48

He/She makes a very pretty additional ornament. Just enough if for what it is and the cute photo ops. I had a kitten who enjoyed climbing the tree 3 years ago. He hasn't since, so it was very much a kitten thing. Oh and it helped that I had my tree weighted down with a very heavy base.

Potentialmadcatlady · 25/11/2019 16:49

Just don’t have one 😂😂😂... a tree I mean not the kitten... I haven’t managed to have a Christmas tree up now for five plus years... I gave up... I do other decorations- lights in glass bowls etc but not a tree... it’s a shame but with five cats I just get too fed up picking it back up all the time:..

Avihoot · 25/11/2019 16:50

Urgh! Really should proof read. That should have said just accept it for what it is and the cute photo ops.

IceniSky · 25/11/2019 16:50

We have a 9 month Maine Coo at 13lbs. I'm very worried about this! He climbs everything to try and get to pendant lampshades.

I'll try the pine spray.

IceniSky · 25/11/2019 16:51

*coon

sm40 · 25/11/2019 16:53

Never leave him unattended. I came down stairs to find my kitten caught up
In the fairy lights and being strangled. I rescued him but am sure he's been a bit stupid ever since! He's too fat now to even climb the tree!!

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 25/11/2019 16:54

I tied ours to the wall .... Grin

CatChant · 25/11/2019 16:56

Hahaha! No chance but what a pretty kitten.

Don't decorate the tree with anything fragile this year. Now is not the time for delicate spun glass ornaments.

Maybe next year...

Fluffycloudland77 · 25/11/2019 17:00

“Any tips please?

Take loads of photos.

Scrapper142 · 25/11/2019 17:02

I tried putting mine on a small table and covering that with tin foil and hung pine cones all around the bottom branches and sprayed orange/citrus smells around it.

Didn't work. The tree was toppled numerous times.

Luckily this only happened first Christmas. She's never been bothered since. Did get some cute pictures out of it.

cherryblossomgin · 25/11/2019 17:03

Remove the tree unless you are watching him.

We gave up with Christmas trees, my cat is a climber and its just not worth the risk. Also tinsel is meant to be really dangerous for cats. Our decorations are low key and cat friendly.

bubblesforlife · 25/11/2019 17:05

These are the cutest photos ever. Can you share more please?
I don’t have any solutions.... sorry.....

Foxton20 · 25/11/2019 17:07

She’s never climbed w thing! Not bothered about curtains or anything 😂

I may have sprayed apple cider vinegar on the bottom of the tree now the house smells like a greasy chip shop 😑 and she’s sulking on the sofa 😂

Hahaha fat chance. Cute little monkey

cherryblossomgin · 25/11/2019 20:37

She's lovely, I am sure the novelty of tree climbing will wear off and she will hopefully stop climbing it. But you could use a safe repellant. Maybe some rosemary or lavender in the tree.

Babypug · 25/11/2019 20:39

Check these out - thought it was a joke until my friend showed hers to me! Never heard of them before and they seem pretty popular.

TrainspottingWelsh · 25/11/2019 23:27

Good luck with that. Also laughing hollowly at the idea they grow out of it. Nobody gave mine that memo.

With age, mine can climb it quicker and cause more destruction in a smaller amount of time.

MaidenMotherCrone · 25/11/2019 23:50

Scenticles, they come in different Christmas scents. You just hang them off your tree. My two don't go anywhere near.

I think you can get them on Amazon.

swampytiggaa · 26/11/2019 08:35

With 3 idiot kittens who climb everything including the walls 😭😭😭 I think we aren’t going to bother this year
