My old girl was PTS today

And I'm broken. Really broken.

She was almost 22, the smallest but feistiest cat I've ever met. She has been with me through my entire marriage (first child really!), the lives of both my children and outlived 2 dogs.

After 3 years of progressive kidney disease I had to let her go this morning.

I feel so guilty...was it too soon, or too late, did I do best for her etc

But worst of all is that I miss her. I really miss her.

Don't know why I'm posting really.

How incredibly sad. Sounds like you did much more than the minimum if you've nursed her through 3 years of kidney disease. What a hole in your life she will leave. Unmumsnetty hugs to you.

So sorry for your loss Flowers
It's painful when they have been around so long, there for everything.

I'm sorry superdoodle Sad...heartrending for you

RIP beloved old girl- you are a star in the night sky Star

Sounds like you gave her a wonderful life. It is really really hard at first, but you'll be able to look back and remember her with a smile. When the time is right, get another cat. Not as a replacement but it will help fill the huge hole. I did and it was the best thing to help me get over my girl, she's never forgotten.

I'm sorry. Of course you miss her, she's been in your lives a long time and it will take time to adjust, like any bereavement. Be kind to yourself and allow yourself to room grieve. Flowers

RIP old girl. Better a day too early than a day too late. Be kind to yourself and let your tears run free. Xx

That is a long time to have shared your life with her so you must have done a lot right. Sadly, once they've gone they do leave a huge hole behind.
RIP puss and so sad for your loss Flowers

Oh super, I had to let my old lady go a week or so ago. So hard to feel sure it was time, but honestly with kidney disease a day too late is awful.

My old fluffster had three years living with a brain tumour. God you love them so much more fiercely when they've been so poorly.

I keep forgetting she's gone.

I'm so sorry, she sounds like an amazing old girl & almost 22 is a fantastic age. From what you've said you did the right thing at the right time. That's a brave & selfless thing to do. Of course you miss her, she was very special & had been a part of your life for so long Flowers
