I'm in total shock and disbelief. It happened out of nowhere this evening, he had a heart attack.

Oh no, poor you, what an awful shockThanks

Fudgecakes · 25/09/2019 20:31

Flowers for you. I'm so sorry....what a shock Sad. I'm assuming he most likely didn't suffer? I've never owned a cat but been where you are from a doggy perspective and I feel for you. Take comfort from the fact I'm sure all his life he knew how well loved and looked after he was. Look after yourself...that's what he'd want you to do. Take care

Boysey45 · 25/09/2019 20:31

I'm really sorry, what a dreadful shock. When you have pulled round get another cat it helps but obviously doesn't replace your old cat.

Beamur · 25/09/2019 20:38

So sorry to hear this.
I lost one of my beloved kitties to kidney failure last week and am still reeling.
It's just horrible Flowers

alicroc · 25/09/2019 20:41

He was a stray for the first year of his life. He lived on a railway track and he was taken to a rescue home where we got him and he's lived with us in true pampered pet style ever since. We loved him more than anything else. I had a miscarriage earlier this year and he sat by my side all day every day for 4 weeks he got me through some of the toughest moments of my life.

I got home from work and he greeted me as normal wandered around the house for a bit, got a stroke and then his back legs went from beneath him and it happened just like that. I rushed him to the vets but he was already gone.

alicroc · 26/09/2019 14:16

Thank you all, today has been a struggle. @Boysey45 he was only 5.

OP posts:
Beamur · 26/09/2019 14:18

Feels so unfair when they go young. Doesn't sound as if there was anything you could have done.

Boysey45 · 26/09/2019 15:20

5 is no age, that's really sad, it sounds that it was genetic to go so young. My Mums old cat had a stroke at 15 and that was horrendous as she was rolling around at the foot of her bed and was then wailing all night. I took her to the vets straight away next morning to have her PTS it was traumatic.
Its worse when a pet or anything is so young. I'd definitely get another when your ready theres so many strays in rescue needing a loving home.
