We tried sifting trays and gave up quite quickly because of the mess. The ones we have (I still use them without the sieve layer) were these. Basically the dust goes EVERYWHERE when you shake it and obviously you then have to put the sieve part down somewhere whilst you empty the bottom and it’s coveted in wet, dusty litter so the only place to put it was the bath which I then had to clean! We also soon discovered that the wee just goes straight through the holes and makes a big puddle in the bottom layer so I lined the bottom too which worked a little better. Then I discovered Cats Best litter as linked by pps and got rid of the sieve layer. I scoop poos straight away and the lumps every few days. It’s far less wasteful, my only complaint is the tracking so I have just bought the pellet version to try when I next do a full clean.

I didn't get on with the sieving trays either for similar reasons to HelloJackie, looks great, but in practice it was a massive faff and using a scoop was easier. I just got rid of the sieving layer and use the bases as regular trays.

The only litter I've ever really got on with is Catsan, I just remove solids immediately and then change the whole litter weekly, I find clumping litters always smell even if you remove the clumps daily and they always make slugde in the bottom of the tray.

Oh thanks for the news minnie. Thats encouraging from the vet then. Flowers

Didnt know those single use puppy pads were enviro friendly!!! I thought they had the same stuff as 'disposable' not nappies in them. All good then.

...and good morning little Haribo!!! Awwwwwww!
