Have just dropped cat off at specialist animal hospital

Hadn’t seen cat since 10am yesterday morning and this morning our neighbour called to me as he found her in his garden. Her back legs weren’t working and looked like she’d been hit by a car.

Took her to our vet, they xrayed and she’s dislocated her left back leg and broken some part of other back leg. We got referred to animal hospital 1.5 hours away so have driven her up here and she’ll be in overnight before operation tomorrow.

She was very good in the car although may be to do with the painkillers she’s on. Poor Suki - I hope she will be all right. Photos are attached of her generally and her just before we made the journey up here

Aw love her. If it's Langfords in Bristol they are marvellous and caring. Hope for a speedy recovery. It's horrible leaving them there but will be well looked after.

Plasebeafleabite · 05/09/2019 20:56

That’s a unhappy little face. Hope she will be ok Flowers

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/09/2019 20:58

Oh you must be in bits. Have you had to go home?.

Vinorosso74 · 05/09/2019 21:02

Everything crossed here. Our old girl was referred to a specialist practise-nothing orthopaedic related. They were so nice; I did say to our local vet I was worried about Supervet egos etc. The vet we saw was so calm and genuinely nice I felt so reassured. A different vet did the surgery and when I spoke to him he was the same. We went to Davies(Beds/Herts border) if naming them is ok.
Do let us know how Suki is.

Wolfiefan · 05/09/2019 21:04

I hope she’s ok. Keeping everything crossed for good news soon.

We’re in the north, so she’s at a place near Durham. I could have taken her tomorrow but then it would have delayed things and I feel better knowing she’s there.

She was trying to leap out of her cat basket just before the “sad cat” photo - I think she was grumpy that we wouldn’t let her!

Hope she has a good night.

If it's the Willows in Solihull, they are fantastic. the Late Fatty had jaw surgery there. All the staff were wonderful.

Have heard from surgeon Smile

Basically her hip is quite straightforward (although sounds complicated to me) and she’ll have a toggle put into it. The right ankle may be shattered (they would see from the CT scan) and normally they’d put a plate in but because it’s infected that wouldn’t be good so she’ll probably have a little cage around it. He said within about 12 weeks she’ll probably be bounding about which I find hard to believe but will see. She’ll need cage rest for about 6 weeks probably. They will call later on this afternoon around 4pm but may be later and she’ll stay in a few days at the hospital

Well that’s good news, have you ordered the crate?.

You could set up YouTube cat videos for her on the iPad.

MirandaWest · 06/09/2019 20:11

Good news on Suki 😊 operation has been a success and she is recovering. Her right ankle was quite a mess with soil and things in it so I think she must have dragged herself along quite a way but she is all patched up. I’ll get another call tomorrow with an update. She’s got a catheter for now to make sure she can pass urine while she can’t squat. Once she can then I think she can come home so will know more tomorrow probably

There are lots of crates on Facebook marketplace so going to check tomorrow what sort of size they recommend and get one. Or possibly two as I work in a converted garage in our garden and so she can be in there with me too

Poor girl, dragging herself along 😿

Vinorosso74 · 06/09/2019 21:01

Very pleased the surgery was a success. Here's to a speedy recovery.

UrsulaPandress · 06/09/2019 21:27

Sending healing vibes to Suki.

My first cat, a Siamese, was Suki.

Pinkkahori · 06/09/2019 21:30

Sending good vibes for a safe recovery. My little black cat came home injured last year. She had to have her jaw wired for 6 weeks. It was a worrying time but eventually healed up.

Hamsterian · 07/09/2019 20:10

Poor thing! Wishing her a safe and fast recovery

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/09/2019 20:41

How is she today?.

S1naidSucks · 07/09/2019 20:43

Ask on your own Facebook if someone can lend you a cage. I’m sure someone will have one from when they were crate training their dog. I’m so glad kitty has come through surgery well.

MirandaWest · 07/09/2019 21:11

She had a good night and they said this morning they were going to try reducing her pain killers. She’ll be there until Monday at least - am hoping she will be able to come home then as I’m missing her Sad.

But much better she’s where she is than not being OK so I can cope Smile

Oh I hope she’s home soon and continues to recover well. Did you get the crates?

OrcharD14 · 07/09/2019 22:23

Wishing her a speedy recovery. X

MirandaWest · 10/09/2019 07:01

Suki is back home now and installed in her cage. The surgeon says she’s doing really well but it was a shock seeing her. Don’t think it will be a quick process but could have been much worse.

Awwww look at the shaved bum!!! Poor baby. Hope she feels better soon.

TroysMammy · 10/09/2019 07:42

Speedy recovery to Suki.

Toddlerteaplease · 10/09/2019 09:16

Have you got to clean her pin sites. We do it daily in kids with those. But they usually sit still.
