Does your cat have an absolute favourite toy?

What is it?
My previous cats didn't play very much, especially in their final years. We have a 3.5 month old kitten and I'm loving all the playing! When we got him from his foster he brought his favourite mouse toy with him and it's still his best ever toy-when he loses it under the sofa and we retrieve it for him he goes crazy as soon as he hears it rattle! He can play with it for hours!
He has also adopted a stuffed toy butterfly which he carries around in his mouth and takes upstairs to our bedroom at night.
He hates toys on sticks and anything with a bell...

My cat likes to play with random inanimate objects like a piece of popcorn or a hair bobble 😂 he's about 5 though and never knew him as a kitten but buying him anything is a complete waste. One thing I've bought him was a yellow plush thing with a bit of cat nip in and he went mad when it was fresh but only plays with it like once in a blue moon when he's in a funny mood.

I have two and they're spoiled rotten! Cat barrels, cat trees, feathers, mice, light up things, tunnels - you name it, they have it! And do you know what? They don't play with ANY of it! Their favourite toy is a scrunched up bit of paper or tin foil Hmm Smile

Yes. My chin.

Paws it, claws it, cuffs it, licks it, chews it, drools on it, purrs into it, settles down on it. I guess it's about mouse size and he's hoping it will eventually make a run for it off my face and then he'll be ready!

The catnip banana is a perennial favourite for RotterCat. She kicks, drools, tumbles and looks quite crazed as she rolls around with it. A very good use of £6ish!

One of my cats had a small crochet ball that had catnip in it. She carried it everywhere and slept with it. Wherever she was the ball was nearby.

Tiny little catnip filled mice are a favorite with mine. There is one type that they manage to disembowel, then fling the rather flaccid remains around. I regularly tread on one when I get up in the mornings.

Girlcat is also seriously into large rubber bands (the type you sometimes get round post). She flings them about, pounces on them, throws them up in the air & catches them on the way down..... You do need to keep a close eye on them at least when you first offer them, as some cats (not Girlcat thank goodness) chew them & even eat them which if course is dangerous!

They also like their Yeowww! Banana, though less now it's getting rather elderly & I'd imagine doesn't smess of catnip any more.

I tried a catnip-filled spider with my kitten but he showed absolutely no interest!
I'm glad he loves his other toys though-he's very bitey and they're good distractions to save my shredded hands and arms Grin

DCat1 - baubles off the Xmas tree I had to buy him his own box
DCat2 - rolled up bits of tin foil and a Pom Pom off a hat which I suspect may be real fur
DCat3 - everything as he’s still a kitten

My teenage hood cat, pepper came with a toy hedgehog that he took everywhere.
The late Fatty liked pens and the plastic covers that go on our thermometers at work.
Cheddar and Snorg do t really play.

GingerKittenHuman · 02/08/2019 19:04

My kittens love pieces of Velcro and especially Velcro cable ties. They also like knotted sweet and crisp wrappers. Those silvery crinkly balls are favourites.

But with all the above, they are rubbish at retrieving them from under sofas instead they wait for me to do it. #catslave

Ours loves nothing more than a bit of string.

cherryblossomgin · 02/08/2019 19:10

My knitting and her laser pointer.

slipperywhensparticus · 02/08/2019 19:11

Tinsel balls the fluff balls with shiny bits sticking out? One cat carries them around the other one just goes for anything even lego we frequently have to make him spit bits out! Third one just loves anything if he is in the mood for it

HiItsClemFandango · 02/08/2019 19:18

Hair grips, he's absolutely obsessed with them and will carry one in his mouth and drop it infront of me and wait for me to throw it, he's bonkers

Fontofnoknowledge · 02/08/2019 20:32

Mine don't like actual toys but go berserk for a good game of 'bed foot mouse'.. it goes like this.. furry overlords slave lies in bed.. furry overlords on the top of the bed.. pole your foot so it makes a little hillock under the duvet .. then jerk foot all over the bed whilst flurry terrorists try to catch it... a good 15 minutes of fun.. until DH moans about the noise and claws in his arse... 😲.. but we just ignore him. He knows better than to spoil our fun...

learieonthewildmoor · 02/08/2019 20:50

He has a stick toy that’s a long thin piece of furry material that used to have feathers on the end of it, one of the first toys we bought him.Takes it with him when he settles down to sleep. Completely ignores small toys, but goes mad for tissue paper and boxes.
She loves the “da bird” toys we bought; one a bird, one a bee. She brings them to us and sits looking expectantly. Will play with small toys but prefers leaves and gumnuts, which she stores in my shoes.

I have 2 who have very different tastes. Black boy cat, laser pointer and “massive” catnip kicker toy that he carries around and kills most nights. Girl cat loves string, ribbon, shoe laces and ping pong balls. Lots of lost ping pong balls under every piece of furniture in the house Grin
