Do I clean the house after one cat has died?

One of my two lovely cats died yesterday. She has gone to the vets this morning, but im not sure how best to help the remaining cat (who is her brother).

Do i leave everything as is, or make an effort to clean things that she used a lot (feeding area, cat flaps etc). She spent a lot of time outside so doesnt have a bed in the house, but im not sure if i should remove her scent as far as possible or not.

I showed the body to 'left behind' cat so he knows whats happened (i hope).

Sad

Sorry to hear this OP.

I have no idea what is best for remaining cat but I think leaving her scent there to naturally fade away will be easier for him to get used to the difference. It might be too much of a change for him not to be able to smell her in the places he always has before. I don’t know.

That sounds sensible. I think (in my house anyway!) too many cleaning products would be a change too far!!

Oh I’m so sorry for the pair of you! I agree you should let the scent fade away, it may help him get used to the fact she’s gone more slowly rather than a big sudden change

Thank you both, sensible advice!
