Saying goodbye to my lovely friend

Am feeling so sad. Yesterday my old boy who is about 20 had a big fit. He’s been deteriorating over the last year with an over active thyroid, and has been on other medication for his heart. We tried to clip his claws yesterday afternoon as they had been catching on everything but he seemed to get really stressed and then collapsed screaming. He now isn’t able to walk properly and after speaking to our vet this morning, who has been with us through a long journey, I have made an appointment to have him put to sleep at 6.15. I keep hoping he will get up and start moving about...am not making much sense.

Flowers OldPodge.

It won't seem like it now, but you are doing the kindest thing to let him die in comfort. Far better for him to go with you stroking him and whispering calming words, than for him to die in a panic.

I had to have my old boy put to sleep very recently and the vet was so supportive and comforting. It made a massive difference.

You'll have a difficult few days ahead of you, but you will remember the good times. Flowers

My girl had a very peaceful and dignified death. It's our last act of love frbrgem.

It’s the last kindness you can give him. He sounds as if he’s had a wonderful life with you. It’s horrendous saying goodbye, but sometimes it is for the best.

Wishing you a peaceful evening and sending you strength Flowers

My beautiful tortie girl who was found in a field with a litter. I adopted her and she was the most gorgeous cat. I had 8 wonderful years with her until the vet confirmed she had multiple abdominal tumours. I chose to pts rather than put her through surgery given that she was an older (16+ by this point) lady. She died in my arms. The kindest thing I could do. Sobbed my heart out and I still miss her 7 years on. Flowers

We had to have my girl pts today. Honestly it was heartbreaking but the vet treated us both with so much respect and dignity and for that ill be forever grateful
