Does anyone else’s cat fart as a defence mechanism?

Both of mine will fart the most hideous gases whilst play fighting (bonus points if this happens in an enclosed space like their tunnel ). Neither are keen on being picked up and will also gas me to show their displeasure if I dare to do so. Given that they are unrelated and they both do it is it quite common? I don’t remember my cats doing it growing up!

Big cat is also in the doghouse for weeing on dd at 1am this morning, a trip to the vets later to rule out a uti it looks like she just didn’t fancy a trip downstairs to her tray

Yes, one of mine drops bombs if he's disturbed. He is quite sensitive so it's not much of a surprise.

Yes my cat releases her glands sometimes. Releases this horrendous fishy odour. It sticks. Assume it's a bit like skunks. You can't se anything by it needs to be washed off whatever it is on so must be a fluid of some sort.

She does it when stressed but also just randomly too. She doesn't seem to have much control of it.

My cat has just farted in protest of her photo shoot.

One of my other cats did a little prrp in my hand when I picked him up the other day.

One of ours do when he's picked up but I thought that was more to do with being squeezed. I didn't think it was deliberate but perhaps not.
