Do anyone know the difference between these two or can recommend an alternative.

Feliway Friends is for multi-cat households, it spreads the same chemical mothers & kittens have, therefore helps cats getting along better.
Feliway Classic reproduces the hormones that cats use to mark their territory etc, therefore they feel more calm and relaxed.

Brilliant. Thanks we just have one fur baby.

Pet Remedy is another alternative if you want something that's generally relaxing. I know some people find it more effective. My friend is convinced it relaxes her as well as her cats. Grin

Was just going to suggest Pet remedy. I found it more effective with my very anxious cat. When I adopted Cheddar I used Feliway friends. Never had any issues. Though I do think it's down to the cats personalities more than the feliway.

Yes to Pet Remedy, I have heard some people find it more effective. I've tried it but it does have a really strong smell, that can be a bit wee-like.

I don’t fancy the wee smell but I’ll look into it. I was just getting a feliway for when we are away for a few days but baby 2 is due soon so we’ll need something then.

I wondered whether 'Friends' was any good. I've had good results with the classic version for a shy, nervous cat. Old cat and New cat seem to be tolerating each other fairly well, but I'd love them to be actual friends!

I have used the Friends version for successful and unsuccessful introductions now... First time it didn't really make any difference, my grumpy girl still hated her siblings. I have also used it to introduce a young pair to a pair of kittens and that went very well indeed but could be for other reasons. I do notice my cats sometimes stopping in front of the plug-in to sniff it so at least they are aware of it!

Just to clarify the new baby will be a human baby not a fur baby. My cat will still be the only cat in the house Smile He would never tolerate another cat.
