My kittens STINK!

And guests have even started to comment on it. One is far worse than the other he passes wind a lot and it's awful! The vet said to worm them again so we did to no change. I have tried fortiflora which offered a small improvement but switched to regutum as it's much cheaper but doesn't seem to be helping at all. Any suggestions anyone?! We are on felix kitten they have 2 pouches each a day with dry food available.

It's the food. We had the same problem with all the fake meat flavour in kitten food. Would you consider raw food or at least a better quality processed food?

l don't have a cat, but a couple of years ago l offered to look after a friend's kitten when they went on holiday.
My best friend, who has cats, warned me in advance that kittens litter trays stink to high heaven! And my god, she was right. l had the kitten and the litter tray in the living room with me, and as soon as she'd 'been' in it, l had to change it. The smell!! l've had dogs and l have house rabbits, and never in my life have l ever smelled anything like that! lt was feral!

What raw or alternative cat food would you recommend? I'm feeling a little lost on where to start I've always had cats and never had stinky buggers like these!! I've thought about dry food only but they constantly beg for food as it is I can't imagine how they would be if I removed the wet food!

Look in pets at home for better quality kitten food. You are looking for no grains and high meat. What dry are you giving? Is meat the first ingredient?

They just have to cat kitten. They were on iams but just left it.. that's really helpful I'll take a look!

We found Felix or whiskas both made our kittens poo stink.
We moved them onto Purely dry food which is a Pets At Home brand but has really good meat content. The smell almost disappeared overnight.

IME Felixas such isn’t a problem. My 3 have Felix pouches (ordinary, not AGAIL) & their poo is only rarely a stinky problem.

Covered litter trays with nice deep cats best litter works quite well here...

Felix is actually mainly “meat” tbf. It’s not what humans would choose in a restaurant but it’s still technically meat,& no cereal

When they're ready to go outside they won't need litter trays any more, and you won't have the problem. We have a cat flap into the back garden so they can go outside.

One of mine was like this. It was the food. She was also sick almost every day. Swapped her to Sainsbury's wheat free dry food and she's improved massively and her eyes aren't as runny.

They also have iams vitality as that is also wheat free and they like it.

We moved quickly to Applaws. All meat. No anything else. Cats only eat meat. Dry for main source of food; half a tin a day for a treat. Ready access to water away from food bowl. Still use that for almost 4 year old cat. Stinkiness caused by Whiskas kitten given at rescue centre stopped immediately.

Royal Canin gastrointestinal instantly switches mine from stinky wet poops to small dry non stinky ones. I’ve used it ever since. They do wet and dry versions. I add in some Royal Canin dental for their teeth. Expensive but worth every penny. You can buy online from Fetch Ocado,

felix is meat. I've fed cats on it for years with no issues. You don't need to spend a fortune on cat food, its a myth and a rip off!

Tom kittens can be smelly. Deep litter, change it as often as you can.

Look at the label, meat derivatives is not what you would call meat and is not easily digestable hence the stink.

eyelids and arseholes are meat and are completely able to be digested by cats.

We do have 2 covered trays with plenty of litter and I try to change it as soon as they've been which is quite easy because they eat and poo eat and poo!! It's not just the tray that stinks though it's the actual cats. Looks like I'll have to try a change of diet and pray for improvement!! Going to have to do some research though some of the food I'm looking at is £££!

I always find it amusing that people spend a fortune on posh cat food then their cats go out hunting and eat all. kinds of rotten dead things

Please feed them wet food too. Male cats should have wet food too or they can develop bladder issues which is what killed my ragdoll boy.

I've mentioned this before on stinky kitten threads... we had the same problem with our new kitten a while back. Turns out he came to us with Giardia ( alot of kittens pick it up)... gastro bug which makes them very windy & stinky. Quick course of meds from the vet and he was right as rain and sweet smelling ever since. Might be worth checking.
