Cat off her food - please talk me down from my anxiety high!

For the last couple of days, our cat has been off her food. She’s a fussy madam anyway, and will often just take a scunner at something she previously loved, so I wasn’t overly concerned until earlier tonight when she refused treats. She’s absolutely fine in herself, has been rampaging about the garden, begging for ham when DP was making sandwiches for his lunch this morning and wolfing it down, but I have fallen into a terrible google hole and am scared something’s badly wrong. DP has taken Monday off and is taking her to the vet - they didn’t seem concerned when he booked the appointment or suggest he bring her in sooner, so she’s booked in for 9.30.

Has anyone had similar and all been fine? My searches keep coming up with kidney failure. She’s five, and currently sprawled beside me on “our” heated throw, purring like an engine. DP is out, so there is no-one to calm me down! (I should say also that he has always had cats and isn’t particularly worried about her, whereas she is my first, and I am a naturally anxious person. It was me who insisted she go to the vet, it’s just harder for me to get time off work in term time.)

God bless Metacam. Quick squirt with syringe over the tongue - you'll soon get the hang of it and then you know she's getting a good dose.

That didn’t go brilliantly. I think she hates us now. I hope she doesn’t have a bad tummy because of it, she wouldn’t eat before we gave it to her. It feels like a no-win, because she needs the medicine to make her comfortable enough to eat. Poor wee toot. She’s out in the garden now, I hope she doesn’t go off looking for a new home.

I can really really recommend Lick-e-Lix for giving Metacam. There's several flavours to choose from (Liver is Leroy's favourite) so you should be able to find one that will work.

Thanks, yes, but she won’t even touch those. She is a fussy wee madam. I swear, I could feed a hundred cats with all the different things we’ve bought to try her with. I have a box in the cupboard which is for the Cats’ Protection League.
