Hunger strike - recommend me a food

So dcat has become a picky sod. She's clearly hungry because she's rubbing on me and meowing. I've tried loads of different foods and she seemed to like Lily's kitchen (of course!) but is now rejecting that too. She would quite happily eat nothing but roast chicken everyday but I'm not going to start cooking for the cat!

Is she indoor or outdoor?

How are her teeth?

Indoor and outdoor. She's 5 and her teeth are fine. She rejecting both the tinned food and the dry now. 🙄

Is she eating elsewhere?

We ended up having to feed our cat tinned salmon or fresh chicken until finally we found 4 (and only four) of the little tins of Purina Gold that she will eat. She won't eat anything in gravy or jelly, or mixed flavours (like chicken & liver/salmon & fish) but finally we got there. It is frustrating (and pricey!) but she eats and doesn't starve. On top of the food, she also wouldn't drink out of a bowl, only a tap, so we had to get her a fountain thing to drink from too. She's a bit spoilt.

She has a fountain but much prefers my glass when I'm not looking. She doesn't go out much so I doubt she's eating anywhere else plus she's hassling me for food. She's a skinny little thing so I worry she isn't getting enough. I'll try the purines gold. Thanks!

Royal cabin aromatic exigent is Mrs t to be good for picky eaters. I've got some spare if you want to try it!

Sounds like his lordship. Honestly I've tried so many foods that he is ok with for a few weeks then just refuses to eat. Vet said he wouldn't allow himself to starve... then ate her words when we took him in weighing hardly anything. No obvious physical cause. We just keep changing when he decides he's had enough and in the interim make him fresh chicken and ham.

Currently on Purina gold, but only one flavour. He's also eats the occasional bit of applaws dried food so we keep putting that down but more often than not it gets mostly thrown out at the end of the day. It used to annoy me but he's dead old now so I give him whatever he wants.

Microwave the food so it smells

abbsisspartacus · 01/01/2019 18:37

Make sure she is wormed too

Dollymixture22 · 01/01/2019 21:10

Have you tried one of those licki treat things on top of the food?

My picky little monster is back on lily’s kitchen after refusing to for three weeks. Would only eat thrive chicken or tuna. Now refuses them and the applaws chicken, but will eat lily’s kitchen or roast chicken.

I think she has been spoilt with all the turkey

Agree heat it slightly to improve the smell. Whiskas do a sprinkle on crunchy topping which helps get mine to eat and if all else fails cat soup seems to get him eating when Ill?
