Cat wee’s on rugs if we go away

Hi,

Whenever we go away overnight - which isn’t often - our 1 year old cat wee’s on the rugs, carpets etc.

He’s left with an automatic feeder and a water fountain, which he uses happily everyday, and the run of the house again as he usually has.

Has anyone got any ideas on what else we can do as we’ll be away again in the new year?

Thanks!

He’s not happy with 5he arrangements and is letting you know!.

We went out twice yesterday, cat still not speaking to us.

Sorry but this cracks me up, my ginger cat Tomkins who died some years ago did this every time. I'd come home intrepidation to find the living room rig neatly rolled up with a large turd inside Grin

When my friend was ever late home, her gorgeous cat Leroy would shit at her feet.. Every time.
Kennels when she went away!

We used to have a cat that would crap on the front door mat so that when you opened it after having abandoned it for an hour or two you would smear a shitty rainbow across the hallway.

Oh no, we've left brillocat overnight for the first time.
He has loads of food and water. Toys and bouncy balls. Our beds to sleep on. He is very much an outdoor cat and not at all cuddly.
Am now worrying we'll come home to wall to wall shit and piss .
He has a feliway plug in . 💩

brillopants just open the door carefully Grin

Not sure how you could train a cat not to do that, but as a way of stopping your rugs being damaged you could put puppy training pads down? You could also leave extra litter trays.

Wolfiefan · 25/12/2018 19:48

You don’t mention a litter tray!

ChipsRedWhite · 25/12/2018 23:35

Yep we leave his litter tray out - might try leaving a spare as well.

It’s never poo - just wee!!

We had a cat who objected to the cleaner by peeing everywhere. We put down cheap litter trays around the place where she was peeing, and lined them with puppy pads. Once she started using those instead of the floor we very slowly moved them closer to the main litter tray each day. It worked.

can you find a good cat sitter to pop in on him? It really helps my cat who hates being left, although it took a while to find one he liked. His current one is a complete crazy cat lady and he adores her. She comes in twice a day to play with him and give him tummy rubs. I think he's now quite disappointed when we come home tbh

squee123 · 26/12/2018 00:00

also mine doesn't like a dirty tray so we have to leave extras if we aren't there to immediately empty them

ChipsRedWhite · 27/12/2018 21:28

Right, have booked a sitter and will see if that helps.

Just need to decide to leave the last rug he’s not wee’d on down or remove it for the 2 nights we’re away!!

definitely remove it! good luck!
