How long do you leave your cats for? Is this too long?

I usually take the cat to my mums but both her and my mum find it too stressful. Shes ended up at the vets the last 2 times and for such a short trip i feel taking her to my mums over Christmas isnt worth it.
Anyway this years its our turn to go to jy partners parents for Christmas. We need to leave her from Christmas Eve to kid day Boxing Day. Ill come home from work on Christmas Eve to sort her food and clean her litter boxes. We have a few food timers so she'll have food while we're away and ill get plenty of litter trays for her. Im worried about what time i can leave her from on Christmas Eve. My partners mum was planning a nice meal for us on Christmas Eve but i think leaving in time for that will be too long? Ill need to leave here about 6 to get there on time.
Just for more info, shes an old cat so will probably just sleep while we're away.

Well this thread just reminded me I forgot to feed my neighbour’s cats this morning! Reading this though I guess they’ll be ok on fed twice yesterday & a big meal this evening, right?

I leave mine occasionally for upto 48 hours with plenty of food and the heating on if it's cold, I personally think this is preferable to taking them out of their normal environment. I've not had any big holidays for years, but if I've been away for longer, then I'll do similar, but get someone to check on him. He's always been fine.
I do think they get bored and they do miss our company despite appearances, which is the only thing I feel bad about, but he always gets plenty of fuss when I come back.

Freddie - should be. As long as there was plenty water.

Left my two cats (outdoor cats shut in at night) on weds morning - loads of food, water, cat litter, heating on etc. Locked the cat flap to keep them in until I returned midnight Thurs night so not even gone 2 days...........to find they have broken out of the cat flap leaving themselves locked out. Been calling for 3 hours and no sign of them. Worried out of my mind but fuck - so typical!
