Cat hates my coir door mat and pees on it

Hi all
WHY WHY WHY does she do this, still pees and poos in litter box, kept as fresh as possible. She has not peed anywhere else or on anything else
I’m on my second mat the sort that fits into a recess not the sort i can bung in the washing machine,
Have tried the vinegar rinse through, steamed it, thinking that would kill a few bugs, I know NOT to use bleach on it or the floor boards underneath etc.
Help its driving me crazy, anyone come across this before with regards to mat type, and what did you do

my cat does the exact same thing! I've had to replace a couple of mats because of it. She gets reoccurring cystitis though and I think this has something to do with it, I give her tablets for it and then it stops for a while.

Maybe it's to cover the smells that people bring into the house, you'll have wee smells on your shoes. I'd buy a washable mat and maybe see if it stops if people change their shoes before they come in if that's possible.

It sounds as though she is stressed, and scent marking the entrance to try and assert her territory.
I’d agree with the washable mat instead of coir idea, and perhaps some Feliway to relax the cat, plus look at what might be upsetting her. Give her a secure place she can escape to if people are pestering her, feed at set times, have a calm routine etc
