Why has it taken me so long to workout this with my Christmas tree?

Decorating the tree today and I had an epiphany!!!

Why hadn't I done this before ?

Up till now there have been bare patches where the cats can get at it and its looked pretty ridiculous.

This year I hung bells where the cats can reach it to swipe and they love it, they've played for ages got tired or bored and now left it alone and my tree looks half decent.

Yes! I used to hang bells at the bottom so I could hear when my cat was messing with the tree!

This year I have kittens. I don't think we will be having a tree... bells aren't going to cut it.

Great idea. I'm going to buy bells tomorrow!

Our two older kittens have mostly left it alone. Boycat tries to chew on the (fake) branches every so often but mostly they just sit and watch the lights flashing. It's only been up a few days though so there's plenty of time...

Going to try this but my kitten has a helping hand with my toddler kindly taking down decorations for her.

No trees here. The two little ones (actually huge Norwegian Forests) are too naughty and our eldest is a muncher of all things inappropriate. The kittens took down my advent calendar whilst we were out yesterday and we were met by a trail of applique items which they had distributed round the house. Fortunately none ended up in the litter trays. They then "helped" me to put it all back together again.
I am MAD for decos so it is hard for me. I have decided to hang some of my most precious baubles on command hooks attached to the ceilings in rooms where there are no vantage points from which they can launch themselves.
