Cat won't wee in litter tray. Need sample for vet. Help!

Hi. My poor cat had to have a abscess drained after getting into a fight. He's now wearing a cone but while at the vets she wanted to run some blood tests and do a urine sample as he's licking his willy quite a lot and she thinks there could be another problem :( my problem is this. She has given me some crystal things to go in his litter tray and a pippette and syringe to collect a sample but he's not used to using one and hasn't been for a wee all night :/ any tips on how to get him to use the tray so I can get a sample? X

My cat refused to use those crystals too. I therefore cut a plastic lid off a box (with a rim) poured in a little normal cat litter, got ready with the lid and positioned it under cat when she flew in desperate for a wee.

A mumsnetter on here suggests a locked room and an empty tray.

I got mine to go in the bath with the plug in. He did it naturally at first but I encouraged it.

Thanks for the tips. Sadly he piddled in his bed when I was at work rather than the litter tray. So I will have to be a bit more resourceful 😊

They can manually extract it if it’s not working at home.

Thanks for the suggestions. In the end I put cling film over the litter tray and he did a wee so all sorted. Thanks for all the tips :)

Oh bless him! Hope he's okay, it's crap when they have issues like that.
